Is WV a legal State

    I guess it can be a state. I honestly didn't know anything on the other side of the Mississippi River was even remotely habitable any longer. I thought it was all "No Man's Land"....

    WV was recognized as a state by the legal govt. of the USA during the Civil War, & has thus been recognized ever since.

    The western counties of Virginia had been getting short shrift from the Tidewater counties for decades, & the state govt's secession from the Union was the final straw that caused those counties to secede from Virginia. The rest of Virginia didn't care til WV's coal became valuable.

    I will keep WV and gladly cede Ore, Illinoise, Wash, Cali, Maine, NH, Ct, Verm, Minny, NJ, Md, and Philly
