We already did our VBS. (See the Praise and Inspiration forum, the Summer VBS Praise thread).

We have already done one week of Back Yard Bible Clubs followup too.

We just started VBS Monday....and I am helping. I was suposed to have nursery, but at the last minute, I was switched to doing music. I was scared to death Monday, becuase since I had no idea I was doing it, I wasn't prepared, and the kids wouldn't sing! And my friend doing sound room, either wasn't paying attention to the songs I called out, or he was trying to emberris me! {HE actualy started playing the wedding march one time! Go figure!} But yesterday was soooo much better. The kids were trying to sing, I was prepared with a list of songs in order, and my friend played {for the most part!} the right songs!
So I can't wait for tonight.
Our theme has been F.R.O.G: Fully Relying On God. And we always take and do things our own way. THe whole church is decorated in frogs. The aduitorim looks like a pond! And the teachers are using people from the Bible as examples of how to rely on God. THe kids are having fun, and aside from my interesting time Monday night, and having to break up a "cat fight" with some kids, I've had a great time. I'm gonna hate to see this week end!

I was director and since the man who was to do missions had to have surgury I got to do that. Thank God that He impressed upon me the need for a codirector... the codirector worked the opening and helped in the youth section.
It was great. God really blessed us again.

Ooooo! These sound great! I'll be teaching the Kindergarteners. While I've done children's ministry work before, it's been YEARS! And this'll be my first year with VBS! Eeeeeek! Miss Abby, I am RIGHT in there with you! Eeeeeek! But from my training, I do know to keep it slow and simple for them. I keep reviewing our materials and picking only 1 or 2 activities. The other thing apparently which is SO important to them is to parse (sort of introduce and explain) words and phrases in the Bible.

God bless you all for your faithful service!

"Kindom Capers"...Crack the Charactor Code...all this week, and then Sunday night will be family night for the whole program.

    Dear Miss Abby:

What a hoot! Hmmm, ah, the evangelism of FUN! Excellent! :D

    God bless you dear!

Saggy lady - WOW! All those places! I'll bet you're sick of those songs by now! [IMG] Listen to some nice classical music, ANYTHING that doesn't require Christian Aerobics along with it! :D

    God bless!

Our church had VBS last week with a program for the parents and grandparents on Friday evening. We had a good turn-out.

Well, I just came out of Day 1 and it went well. PTL! The two girls I had, ahhhh, neither of them had ever seen a farm or picked fruit or anything. Thus making my lead in questions to a PIECE of the Story of Ruth completely worthless..... Ahhhhhh! I managed anyway which is a COMPLETE testimony to all the lovely prayer which has surrounded this. They STILL had fun and enjoyed themselves. And the NEW little girl had NEVER heard that Jesus Christ loves her. WELL! Today, she did.

    God bless!
