I went to the Great New York State Fair yesterday. As usual, I stopped by the State Comptroller booth.
The clerk entered my name to see if NY was holding any of my money ( ie dormant bank accounts, inheritance, ect)

There was none for me, but I did find something for my brother. (do I get a 15 % finders fee?)

I had given the clerk my church business card, so in addition he check that out. Well, our church was not listed, but another Faith Baptist was, so I wrote down the address, and this AM I called the church - No answer yet, but I did leave a message.

So, could it be that your church may have some unclaimed funds being held by your State or Commonwealth.

If so, check it out; in New York, you can call 1-800-221-9311 ( yes, I doubled check the #), of if you go to the fair, check it out for yourself.

For other States or Commonwealths, check their website.

    Who knows?

PS I always stop by the DMV booth to make sure their is nothing unauthorized on my license.

No. I can't think of any reason the state would have our money.

The four states that use 'commonwealth' are still US states, they merely adhere to a historical label. There are 50 US states, not 46 states and 4 commonwealths.

Several reason - maybe a store owed you a refund and went out of business - maybe taxes that were paid (upon purchse of property) but should have been refunded, could be a bank account was opened in the name of the church years ago by some who no longer attends...,ect, ect, ect.
It cost nothing to check it out, who knows!
