NIV : their Maker has no compassion on them, and their Creator shows them no favor.

NLT : the one who made them will show them no pity or mercy

ESV : he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.

NASB/HCSB : their Maker will not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them.

GWT : their maker won't have compassion on them, and their Creator won't have pity on them.

NET : the one who made them has no compassion on them; the one who formed them has no mercy on them.

CEB : their maker won't have compassion; the one who formed them won;t be gracious.

A hard and difficult reality, but for our benefit.

In verse 9 we read, "Therefore through this Jacob's iniquity will be forgiven; and this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin". The author then goes on to detail the harsh results of Jacob's sin, and eventually, his redemption. This is summarized effectively in verse 11 when the author writes, "Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them." But the ending is good if we look at it from a New Testament Gospel perspective, "For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives" (Hebrews 12:6).
