Isn't it ironic?

Isn't it ironic that it was okay for the Clinton administration to disrespectfully call President Bush "W" and even remove the w's from computer keyboards before Bush came, yet no one is supposed to say anything about Obama's middle name?

Isn't it ironic that the democrats made fun of Bush at every opportunity for his lack of smooth speech, yet when Obama messes up a simple oath of office, it's chalked up to nerves and Roberts gets the blame?

Isn't it ironic that Obama and the democrats tout the cry "equality for all" but somehow don't factor that in for the unborn?

Isn't it ironic that the democrats bashed Bush at every opportunity possible, yet suddenly want us to be "patient and understanding" for Obama?

Sounds to me like the democrats are just a big bunch of hypocrites. Do what they say, not what they do!

You can add to that list that the Obama Administration is taking the office of President below any level of dignity by bashing Bush on the government website:

Calling Bush "W" is not a disrespect. It is an affectionate nickname his family uses to distinguish from his father. His own campaign used "W" bumper stickers.

Abcgrad has a point. Democrats will whine & complain when they don't have things their way. When Democrats have control of things, they don't give an inch. You almost never hear of Republicans complaining about things.

Isn't it ironic that the only reason radical liberal Obama was elected to the Presidency is that George W Bush ran as a conservative, and governed like a liberal, ineptly at that. Any conservative with any standards either stayed home or voted for a conservative third party.

Isn't it ironic that George W Bush, with a six year Republican Congress and a two year Democratic Congress (a pox on both their houses) expanded government and spending light years beyond all other administrations combined?

Isn't it ironic that all of Bush's programs are being dismantled by the very person that his leadership is responsible for electing?

The transfer of power was from liberal to extreme liberal. When the Republicans start standing up for conservative principles again, and governing by them, they will regain power, otherwise they will cease to exist.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that one.

Uhm, Roberts himself admit it was his mistake. :) How can you twist this against Obama?!?

This is nothing new, whenever Bush got bashed, the GOP'ers told everyone how they should be patient and understanding...

It's nothing new, it's all politics as always...

Nothing in Politics are new....

==People who referred to Bush as "W" did so because it was part of the promotional package. The Bush team was quick to capitalize on it. People who call Obama "Hussein" do so in an attempt to cause controversy. So it is the reason behind using the name that is the issue.

==Justice Roberts was the one who messed up. He did not have a "cheat sheet" with him and when Obama started too soon Roberts got thrown off track. If Roberts would have had a cheat sheet with him, as he should have, he would not have gotten thrown off. As one who does a lot of public speaking I can testify to the importance of having notes or a cheat sheet in front of you. If you get too confident you will get messed up. In my experience Murphy's Law does not take a day off.

==They did the same thing in the 19th century with slavery. It was the Democratic party that worked overtime to prevent emancipation and it was the Democratic party that opposed civil rights in the 60s. So I guess we could say that they are being consistant in denying the rights to certain groups of people. In this case they are denying life.

==We should be patient and understanding towards any new President, including Obama. Not because a political party says we should but because it is the civil, mature, and Christian thing to do. We should work not to be like the ungodly people on the left.

Again you would think that obama would have gone over the oath and waited to repeat when it was time.

I am not saying this is a big deal, I just dont understand why he gets a pass and President Bush did not.

Yeah, nothing like taking an Oath in front of 2 million people, that's a piece of cake...

Since he was following Roberts, which is the way it happens... he continued to follow Roberts until they got it back on track.

It really doesn't matter, Roberts made a mistake to think that he could 'wing' it and Obama made a mistake thinking he could trust Roberts to do it correctly!

If anybody noticed, Obama hesitated, knowing that Roberts made a mistake, but he decided to go ahead and repeat what Roberts said rather than correct it and embarrass the Chief Justice. Obama will undoubtedly deserve his share of criticism in the next 4 years, but this isn't something he should be criticized about.

You are correct, but they won't see it this way, because they are ready to sling anything and everything towards Obama to see how much they can get to "stick".

It's sad really...

FTR, Chief Justice John Roberts took a similar oath when he was inaugurated as the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

So it may be correctly said that both The Chief Justice and The President could have used a little practice on memorizing the correct order of those no more than 20 - 27 words, such as was the case, for examples of 26 for Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush and Gerald Rudolph Ford, Junior.

BTW, should President Obama have identified himself as "the Second", considering that is his given name, and that, along with the added words of "so help me God" would also have afforded him the distinction of also having said the most words ever said in an oath of office for the Presidency (apart from the 'flubs' on Tuesday).

Have you ever seen an inauguration when the President elect didn't repeat EXACTLY what the Chief Justice says? I have great respect for Chief Justice Roberts but he made a (small) error this time.

I agree with this, except the first sentence. Yes, hatred of Bush played a big part in this election, but there are other factors to consider.

Bush gets to be the scapegoat for the Republican party, but in reality, many if not most of the Republican leaders have let down their party by drifting away from its conservative base.
