Congratulations to Kurt Busch for winning the Nextel Cup. What a race that was today!

Yes! That was quite a race. I was critical of some aspects of NASCAR's new "Chase" format, but what they did resulted in great competition today. No one was stroking. Everyone was going for it.

I am a very casual Nascar fan, will watch it if nothing else is on - but, with the new format I was watching more nascar than football sunday. If I am any indication nascar, already one of the most popular leagues going, made a change for the better by adding its chase for the cup.

It is interesting to me that nascar, as one of the most popular, had the courage to make major changes. One the chase for the cup, and two, the cant win under yellow rule. Sunday it was like having 5 teams play for the super bowl at the same time! I almost forgot - nascar dumped their major sponsor to go with a more family friendly sponsor!

contrast that with HOckey, or college football, or baseball - some that are popular, some that are hanging on that wont make any changes. nascar will continue to improve - the others will do ok perhaps, but not build.
