It's official. It was announced today in church that we're planting...

I posted on the Church Plant thread the news but today it was announced to the congregation. It was exciting how Pastor told everyone without naming who was doing it until the end. There was a great round of applause and so many coming to us with congratulations, excitement and testimonies of how this is really an answer to prayer. I can see that God is going before us and preparing things before we even realize it. I'm so excited to see this all unfold!!

I really appreciate all of your prayers for this new work. I know we're going to be needing it.

 

We'll be planting about 40 minutes away from our own church (this is Long Island - 40 minutes away is like a world away). We've researched the area and it's a young area (50% of the homes have children under 18 whereas where we are now, it's just 20%), there are no churches that we'd be duplicating (there's Mormons, JWs, Catholic, Episcopal, a VERY Pentacostal church and a KJVO/skirts only/Fundamentalist Baptist church. We'd step on no toes there. That's one of our biggest things - making sure that we're not just doing another church of what's going on there already. What's great is that we have a number of families there and yet another family told us that they're looking to move there because of work but didn't want to leave our church! They're "in" for doing whatever they can to get this church going. It's awesome how the response was so great!
