I have to wonder if the media would have been so quiet and "fair" had a white, male, Republican Congressman punched a black, female Capitol Guard.

The facts are not in dispute. She should have been tried for assault... but this is the kind of thing you get with liberalism. The crimes of preferred groups are rationalized while others get the hammer brought on them.

Compare the reaction to this to Trent Lott's being nice to an old man for instance.

 

I don't think this is necessarily a racial issue. Consider what just happened to the face of the Democrat culture of corruption, William Jefferson.

Are you kidding? The first thing she did was play the race card. Maybe it was the sex card first. Either way, she played the race and sex card both.

 

Think through the scenario.

Let's say the white Republican from west Georgia was late for a meeting and in the process of doing what McKinney did punched a black female guard. Then let's say a mostly white grand jury failed to hand down an indictment.

Is there any way on earth that the media wouldn't be riding it daily? Is there any chance that there wouldn't be various left wing groups going nuts? Is there any doubt that the Congressman would be accused of various forms of prejudice?

I don't think so. The media didn't push this and, if she was in a DC grand jury, it is very likely that a predominately black grand jury ignored a plain violation of the law.

If she'd apologized early on then I think this would be ok, but she didn't. She did play the race card.

soooo -- she wasn't under the same rules entering the building because she is an elected official AND she's allowed to smack a policeman. I just don't understand.

It is pretty straight forward. There is a fairly large group of people who think race is an excuse when one person violates another person. There is no desire for equality under the law.

 

I really understand the dynamics of what's going on. I was being obtuse on purpose.

 

Kind of figured... but it really gets under my skin when things like this happen.

 

Sure it's a race issue, JB. The "honorable" representative said so herself.
It's an old song you know, this race thing.
That's why many black Africans think that most American blacks are crybabies, grouchers, complainers, and lazy, because of people like this "honorable" who think everything revolves around race.
I had a friend who tells the story of this black American man who moved into an absolutely redneck street neighborhood of Texas years ago, the kind where they openly fly the CSA flag but not necessarily the KKK flag.
They ignored him for a couple of years, kind of just tolerated him, and observed him from a distance, and saw that he was a pretty decent guy who left others alone, loved his family, church going, and orderly. He kept his lawn clean and immaculate.
So, later on, he started getting invited to the clubhouse, then to the tennis courts, then to homes, until he was a regular part of whatever's going on in the neighborhood, the only black mixed in with rednecks in their neighborhood.
Then one day a moving truck pulled up, along with the packing crew, and a few hours later, his things were being moved out, so a neighborhood committee went to see him and his family and asked why they're moving.
His reply:
Because n---ers just moved in behind me.
He was referring to a black family who moved right behind his house, on the other street, and he can see their backyard from his rear windows, and it was bsolutely unkempt, littered, and chaotic. Grass uncut, bikes strewn all over, the 'man of the house' with his almost nekkid lady 'sunbathing' and drinking beer almost every afternoon, and cusswords every other sentence in everybody's speech.
Bill Cosby is right about some of his people, y'know.
And now we have the "honorable" rep from Ray Charles' Georgia.
