even if many of these things are not that familiar to many of you it seems . I'll be doing my snippet routine again . Sometimes I'll quote a whole verse or normally summarize the passage ( possibly including several verses ) . In other words , I'll try to give the essence .

In Numbers 16 Korah , Dathan , Abiram and their families including their little ones were killed by the Lord -- the earth opened and swallowed them .

Deut. 7:2 -- The Lord said to destroy them [ other nations ] totally ... show them no mercy .

Deut. 28:63 -- It will please Him to ruin and destroy you .

Deut. 28:49 -- the Lord will bring a nation against you (50) a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young -- [throughout the rest of the chapter it goes into graphic detail as to the horrors that will ensue ]

1 Sam. 15:3 -- The Lord said not to spare them [ the Amalekites ] ; put to death men and women , children and infants

2 Kings 24:4 -- the Lord was not willing to forgive

Is. 13:16 -- Their infants will be dashed to pices before their eyes (17) I will stir against them the Medes (18) THEY WILL HAVE NO MERCY ON INFANTS NOR WILL THEY LOOK WITH COMPASSION ON CHILDREN .( I did not mean to capitalize , but will leave it as it is anyway )

Ps. 137:8,9 --happy isd he who repays you for what you have done to us -- he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks

Hosea 13:16 -- I will have no compassion

Is. 27:11 -- their Maker has no compassion on them , and their Creator shows them no favor .

Jer. 14:11 -- [ The Lord said ] Do not pray for the well-being of this people .

Jer. 16:5 -- I have withdrawn my blessing , my love and my pity from this people -- declares the Lord .

Jer. 16:13 -- I will show you no favor

Jer. 44:27 -- for I am watching over them for harm , not for good ...

Ez. 7:24 -- I will bring the most wickd of the nations to take possession of their houses ...

Ez. 8:18 -- I will deal with them in anger , I will not look on them with pity or spare them .

Ez. 9:5 -- ... kill , without showing pity or compassion [ The Lord is speaking ]

Ez. 9:6 -- Slaughter old men , young men , and maidens , women and children .

Ez. 9:10 -- So I will not look on them with pity or spare them

Hos. 13:14 -- I will have no compassion

AMOS 6:14 -- I will stir up a nation against you , O HOUSE OF ISRAEL

Amos 9:4 -- I will fix my eyes upon them for evil and not for good

Habakkuk 1:6 -- I am raising up the Babylonians , that ruthless and impetuous people

Hab. 1:12 -- O LORD , you have appointed them to execute judgment ; O Rock , you have ordained them to perish

Zechariah 8:10 -- I had turned every man against his neighbor

No responses? No outrage at this so-called "heresy" and calls for this thread to be deleted? Wow.

Thanks for doing the legwork to find these passages, Rippon. I only had the energy to grab a couple when I responded in the other (now closed) thread.

The point is , G285 , that a great many professing Christians would rail against someone who expresses these biblical items . " You're making that up ! That's not in the Bible ! God doesn't "ordain" that women , children even babies are destroyed by some decree of God ! The Lord doesn't send evil nations to punish His own people ! How dare you even so much as suggest that God doesn't care for or have pity on some people ! You mean to tell me that God told some not to pray for certain people ?! Why that's heresy !! " Things like that G285 . I just thought I would gather together a mass of biblical info and lay it out there for you all . And I will have more for you at a later time .

These types of posts put the Lord in proper perspective; He is not Santa Claus.

Yup. Most people see Him as a sugar daddy with a bad memory.

It has one of the most important applications possible. It helps us to know more fully who God really is. And if you don't think that is important to God, do a study on how many times God says He will display His wrath, and follows that up with "And then you will know that I am the LORD".

Ok, I understand that God is also a God of wrath, and not just a lovey dovey version of the genie in Aladin..

But how do we use this information in our everyday life?
When we are on our jobsites this week, how do we use this info?

When teens are in schools this week, how is this info going to help them?

I'm not saying it is unimportant, I would just like to know how to make it useful.

I am sure God put it in the Bible for a reason.
I am sure the Bible is applicational for us today.
So what does God want us to do with this info?

I think He wants us to bow our heads and worship.

And I was just thinking - maybe it is a bad idea to use His words as proof that "we" are right and "they" are wrong. Or maybe I'm just getting liberal, I don't know.

Yes professing Christians do rail against such things. I also feel that these things need to come out more often. The church has become a week and limp organization that condones sin far to much of the time. We need to see and hear how and what God says and feels about sin. Perhaps the church might return at least in some form to what the lord intended it to be. As to what to do with this in every day life? Warn the lost of His wrath and how he has dealt with sinners in the past and save some from the wrath to come.

    Yeah , G285 . All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching , rebuking , correcting and training in righteousness . ( 2 Tim.3:16 NIV )

    Hello gerald.

The Church is the Body of Christ and is where and what it is because Jesus wants it that way, the way it is is the way it was intended to be. EPH 1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

I heard a Christian once say that the Church is like a car that's run out of petrol and my thought was, "Why you beating the car it's the Drivers fault if it runs out of gas." :)

Rippon, while I do understand what you are driving at, one might request a bit more context for any and all Bible verses. Something like the post (#11) of 'whatever'. Would that be a fair request?

"A text, out of context, is a pretext to a proof text!" (Author unknown)

Sorry! Said quote should have read -

" "A text, without a context, is a pretext for a proof text!" (Author unknown)"

And BTW, I since found that the quote is from the father of Dr. D. A. Carson, who was a Canadian Minister.

I misread my own typing, and did not edit, correctly, before now. Hence, I apologize, again. [IMG]

So here is what has been proven:

    The essential character of God:

    OT:God is holy

Joshua 24:19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

    NT:God is love

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

    OT:God is love

EX 15:13 "In your unfailing love you will lead
    the people you have redeemed.
In your strength you will guide them
    to your holy dwelling.

    NT:God is holy

    Rev 4:8 ..."Holy, holy, holy
    is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come."
