Next week is the annual Jack Hyles Pastor School conference. I hear pastors and workers from all over the country go to this.

I have heard mixed messages on Jack Hyles. Though he is in heaven, what are your thoughts on his ministry and pastor school? We already know he was kjvo. Aside from that what are your thoughts?

Who says he is in heaven? How do you know that?

I grew up about 10 mins from Hyles territory and I have no respect for his ministry. And to quote the famous Forrest Gump, "thats all I got to say about that." [IMG]

Yes, they do, but they are not all "100%ers".

And no one can say for sure that he is NOT in Heaven...

Hyles waffled in his doctrines almost as much as John Kerry did.

He fell into false doctrine. Near the end, he was preaching the blatantly-false, purely man-made doctrine that people could be saved only through the KJV or a non-English translation of the KJV.

Now, while we all know many a devout, truly- Christian KJVO, I believe that anyone who preaches that false doctrine Hyles preached has a serious problem. I sure wouldn't recommend his pastor school to any other Baptist.

I am not here to defend Jack Hyles. But who do you think you are to question a mans salvation? When you have led 1/4 of the people he has led to the Lord speak then. How do I know? It is a little thing called faith. Please stick to the topic.

Quoted I am blessed 16: Yes, they do, but they are not all "100%ers".

I am not sure of what you mean. Do you mean 100% baptist?

    1. I am a Christian with the Holy Spirit and the Bible as my guide for judging the fruits of the spirit.

    2. Who do you think you are to boldly proclaim that he is in heaven?

When you have led 1/4 of the people he has led to the Lord speak then. Until then please stick to the topic.
1. One does not lead others to the Lord with a false Gospel. This is a false liberal theology.

    2. I don't lead others to the Lord. It is the Spirit that draws the elect. I simply proclaim the Word of God as I have been instructed to do by God in his Word. Salvation is not of man (not even the almighty Jack Hyles), but a work of God.

    </font>
Well one can. But, he is certainly a greater authority than any of us. While I agree that no human can say for sure, by that same token, no human can sat for sure that he IS in heaven. Further, as Christians with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to guide us, we can certainly judge the fruits of his spirit and come to a conclusion. Don't you think?

Quoted by Joseph Botwinick: Who do you think you are to boldly proclaim that he is in heaven ?

The statement was an assumtion. This thread was not started to question the mans christianity. He may have had hs share of problems with pride etc. but I will rephrase: I believe he is in heaven.

Quoted by Joseph Botwinick: One does not lead others to the Lord with a false Gospel. This is a false liberal theology.

I just found out through you that he taught the man-made doctrine that people could be saved only through the KJV or a non-English translation of the KJV.

While this is false it doesn't change the fact that every person led to Christ with a KJV could be as saved as anyone led with any other version.

Quoted by Joseph Botwinick: Further, as Christians with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to guide us, we can certainly judge the fruits of his spirit and come to a conclusion.

I think he was very fruitful. He headed up one of the largest churches and bus ministries in the country. His ministry is credited with over 1/4 million salvations. Were they real? God knows. But judging by his fruit I would have to say he was probobly a saved man. Yes we can judge fruit. We are not supposed to judge salvation.

The phrase "100%er" has been used on this and other threads about Jack Hyles. Supposedly, if you are a "100%er", then you are following a man and not God.

The men from our church attend the Pastor's School every year and have for the thirty years I have been a member.

The women attend the Christian Womanhood Conference every year.

I know I am in the minority here, but I believe they are both good, and scripturally sound, conferences to attend.

    Blessings,

I attended a Day of Pastor's School back in 1970 when finishing grad work. Drove 150 miles and enjoyed the fellowship and enthusiasm.

I attended a Pastor's School to get ideas and see how THEY were doing ministry some years later. I was appalled at the hero worship of hyles by adoring throngs, his openly false doctrine and shallow-if-real salvation plan, and his opening of a "college" to train others to emulate him.

They paraded John R Rice's horse on the platform and gave it a doctorate from the college. I laughed and figured they knew what a degree from their school was worth. [apology in advance to any who have attended HAC]

The next evening Hyles preached the most arminian and pentecostal sermon I have ever heard in a "baptist" church. I walked out and never looked back.

At any conference, eat the meat and spit out the bones. At the Pastor's School in Hammond, you will be hard-pressed to find any meat . . other than bologna.

Some used to consider him "The Baptist Pope". He also had this "soul-winning covers a multitude of sins" theology.

Dr Bob, this is not a facetious question, but rather serious. Why would you apologize to HAC students. The defintion of apology is "expression of regret for a wrong" I do not see where you were wrong abot HAC.

Possibly because a lot of good men and women went to HAC?

Perhaps he was feeling sorry for them that they wasted all those years of their lives and all that money being led by a charlotan? It is just a guess on my part.

Zackly, Sue. Your son being one of them. Not all who went got "tainted" and it is wrong to paint with a broad brush.

But sadly, they are the exception. Many of the "products" of HAC have a degree that is pretty much worthless. In a small sycophantic circle, some might think it valid. But as a college prof, it is a farce.

I hope to go to Pastors School this week. I dropped out of HAC but still like alot that they are doing though I have my disagreements. Dr.Bob, I'd be interested in knowing what the sermon was about that you called the most pentecostal, arminian you ever heard; Was it 'Fresh Oil'?

I think we assume sometimes that large #'s and wonderful accolades = fruit or evidence of spiritual worth. The morman's have some large #'s too.

If I want to go to a pep rally, I will go to the local high school. Why drive all the way to Indiana?

You are right. But thousands of Christians have been through this school. Good men who want to serve God. Pastor Hyles may have had some issues as a man with power gets but to say he was a charlotan is a bit much. There are thousands of people who would not be saved if it hadn't been for that ministry.

I know Joseph, you will say "How do you know?" I dont.

But you are right csmith. A good business man can produce numbers.
