Who owns most of our debt?
Most of our debt is held by the US government (intragovernmental debt, $7 trillion)
Second is US holders of savings bonds.
Third is the Federal Reserve System ($5.2 trillion)
Fourth is US Depository Institutions
Fifth is State and Local governments
Sixth is Japan
Seventh is US Pension funds
Eighth is China

76% of our national debt is domestic and 24% is foreign.
If you mean our foreign debt ($7.9 trillion), Japan holds the most.

7.9 trillion is still 7.9 trillion…our intragov debts don’t equal that…per your inf.

Btw offering an appeasement to Trump….WOW!

Oh look, two collapsed empires walking hand in hand into history …:Laugh

??

You asked who owns most of our debt. We do (76% of the national debt is domestic, with the largest portion of our debt being intergovernmental).

That is not an appeasement. It is an answer to your question.

State and local governments own the fifth largest portion of our debt and Japan owns the sixth.

Domestically owned debt is about $28.9 trillion and foreign owned debt is $7.9 trillion with Japan owning a little over $1 trillion.

Our national debt is $36 trillion. About $28 trillion is domestically owned and $7.9 is foreign owned.

Thanks….all my savings bonds are being disposed of as we speak…..maybe a home in Oregon with some acreage so my grand kids could grow up to appreciate growing things….maybe some dogs, horses, goats and chickens. Maybe a small apple orchard and some fly fishing Sunday mornings.

That’s good…if they are one with their environment ( not taken from a state fish hatchery, then) they will present a challenge to hook and a good fight.Trout are a good source of natural protean …good fish pan fried. We often eat them for Sunday breakfast

My son, who just moved to Oregon loves that lifestyle in nature, snow boarding & skiing. Loves the nature walks and the many house made beer. (Apparently lots of Germans live there). Allot better than Florida with the heat & humidity. I’ve got him looking around for some land…maybe 10 acres for some green houses and chickens.

Protein would be easier and cheaper to obtain in Florida, and you wouldn’t have the heating costs.

Yea that’s Soilent Green but the power consumed by AC is expensive. Personally I’m in favor of Tennessee or Georgia … I like the people and the longer growing seasons…but I like trout fishing using fly fishing gear. Nobody bothers you at 6am in with hip waiters in a river. Then there is white water canoe trips and camping. Trump screwed up my fishing trips in Canada. And if trouts not your thing, fishing the St.Lawrence River for pike is a rush.
