Is there actually anything good in Louisianna? Why would we want to continue to allow that embarrassment of a state to belong to America. Let's sell the state to Mexico and be done with it.

    Joseph,

The Mexicans can drive a hard bargain . . . we might have to pay them to take it off of our hands . . . .

But, since we are selling highways . . . and getting billions . . . and the foreign powers get to keep the profits . . . we should at least sell New Orleans . . .

    He wasn't elected Louisiana.

He was elected by New Orleans.......big difference.

Kinda cruel to lump us all together and claim all of us as an embarrassment, don't you think?

    Joseph,

If I may correct myself: sell Louisiana . . .and if it costs us in the short run, at least we will be better off in the long run.

    God bless

Interesting. When a candidate you favor wins, its the will of the people. When a candidate you don't like wins, let's sell the state to Mexico.

Maybe we ought to get together a majority and sell you to Mexico, and keep Lousiana :)

Even if we could afford to sell him to Mexico they'd give him back. He'd call them all a heritic and have them ready for civil war. I guess we'd have to charge them more to take him back than what they charged us to take him.

New Orleans voted for Ray Nagin; they can sleep in that bed. New Orleans voted for William Jefferson; they can sleep in that bed, too.

Yet, the people of New Orleans will continue to wonder why crime is so high, jobs are so few and low-paying, and all aspects of the government are infiltrated with scum.

You get what you vote for, and evidently New Orleans wants scumbag thieves, racists, and morons.

BTW, thieves refers to Jefferson for taking at least $90,000 in bribes; morons refers to Nagin for, well, take your pick of any one of the extremely idiotic things he has done; racists refers to both for basically accusing "white America"(meaning anybody who is not black AND living in New Orleans) of causing the hurricane, not giving them $900 quadrillion to rebuild an underwater city, and for creating AIDS, cancer, and alcohol, or any other stupid thing that they'd like to blame us for.

Money for New Orleans would be best spent by dredging a bunch of dirt from the Gulf and filling in the city.

You know, as much as people like to paint Tom Delay as a crook and swindler, at least he was never found with his pilfered loot in cash, on hand, in his home. Only a bunch of idiots would elect such a person. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who voted for Jefferson is getting exactly what they deserve.

Delay's pilfered loot was in his campaign accounts. Maybe that's what Jefferson should have done.

The city of New Orleans now only represents about 17% of the registered voters in that district. So I don't think they were the only ones who voted for him. There's a good reason why the majority of voters didn't trust his opponent enough to put him in office.

If he was held as accountable as Delay, he would be in jail . . .

    I am all for accountability.

Really? And yet, Delay isn't in jail, in spite of the fact that he did essentially the same thing. He was obviously guilty, or he wouldn't have resigned his seat and fled the jurisdiction.
