Jesus was showing his disciples they were to be servants to the world. No one was to be above helping others. The cross brought us salvation. The washing of feet was a demonstration of how we are to interact with each other and the world. No one is above being a servant to the world, sinners and all.

Wrong. You are mixing the teachings of Christ.


Washing the disciples feet was a lesson to the disciples. Read the WHOLE context.

Yes, we are to love our enemies, but that is another lesson.

Amy you are correct. There is a very poor amount of respect for God today in the very ones that claim to know Him and when confronted they are like the Jews who said many times "who us how have we done such and such? And Like the Jews they too will find that He is not going to be mocked.

It has nothing to do with a lack of respect for God, but it is in the utmost respect for the life and work of Christ.

How is this blasphemous?

Because it grossly distorts scripture and the meaning of Jesus washing the disciples feet. Find me one word in scripture where Jesus ever washed the feet of unbelievers and those who outright reject God.

I can explain it to you but it would be a waste of time. It is no different then the Jews who murdered the Lord. They too were doing God's work and they too were showing the utmost respect as they saw it while all the time dishonoring the God they claimed to serve.
I can tell you this. IF anyone really holds to even the slightest understanding of who God is and who Christ is they would immediately know that the picture in question is blasphemous and the reasoning of those involved is blind. Carrying the gospel to the Lord is never without limits in how it is presented, or how the Master is portrayed, but Like I said I seriously doubt that you will understand since you have not already been able to discern the problem with the picture and the logic behind it.

The point is not that Jesus literally was recorded to have washed an enemy's feet. That doesn't matter. He might have at some time without any record.

The point is that Christ came to earth to serve and give his life. The point is that he so loved the world.

From birth, we're enemies of God, as is bin Laden. Christ died for you and I, as well as bin Laden.

What a blatant response! It is clear that Amy was not speaking of Judas
Judas was a disciple even though a false one. And this was a special time. There is no account of the Lord simply washing peoples feet. The example is to wash each others (our brethren) feet, not the feet of the world (lost).

...I think it's more of a messenger problem...

Back to the issue at hand:

I don't understand why the specific symbol of feet-washing is such a problem here. It's only a symbol, and in the case of the photo, it's a symbol of Christ washing the feet out of service to people for whom he gave his life. And also, these same folks are rulers in a world he created and over which he has ultimate control.
