Jindal Not Truthful

Looks like the Katrina story Jindal told during his response wasn't 100% factual. He did a wee bit of stretching the truth on that one.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0209/Jindal_aide_Story_was_set_after_Katrina.html

A spokeswoman for Bobby Jindal says the Louisiana governor didn't imply that an anecdote about battling bureaucrats during Katrina directly involved the governor or took place during the heat of a fight to release rescue boats.

The spokeswoman, Melissa Sellers, said the story Jindal told in his response to Obama actually took place some days later in Lee's office -- though still in Katrina's chaotic aftermath -- as Lee was "recounting" his frustrations with the bureaucracy to someone else on the telephone.

I guess when it is a republican who lies, it's alright.

Hopefully this will put a damper on Jindal's political ambitions.

Your title is dishonest. Both articles that you link say that their point is not proven.

Of course, when liberals don't tell the truth it is okay because they mean well.

Hold yourself to a higher standard, LB (and you too DF).

I think it has to be twisted and spun to make Jindal look bad. I can't think of one, not one, democrat or dem. voter who is more honest than Jindal.

I can't understand why democrats would care whether Jindal was lying or not.

Obama is a huge liar. Bill Clinton was worse...so far.

Lying is a requirement to lead democrats.

why would it bother them for a Republican to lie?

Because they need to sooth their conscience due to their supporting one of the biggest liars in history.

I did, didn't I. Sorry I posted the wrong links. Try this one from Politico which explains the differences in the accounts. It also appears the story keeps changing...

He also used the story to demonstrate how we can't depend on Government. I guess we all know Bush did tons better during the second storm. Shouldn't he have said government is run by people who unfortunately learn and get better with experience? Or should we judge Government by Bush' response to the one storm? I guess he didn't realize the topic of his story was one of the thorns in his parties side.

Why do you say this with fork tongue? Only democrats have liars? But it shouldn't bother us when a Republican lies? </scratches head>

LB, why did you abandon intellectual honesty?

I can't remember the last time you slammed anyone who wasn't conservative.

If anyone sees the old LB...the one who valued intellectual honesty...tell him he's missed.

Give a substantive reason here that you find Jindal to be unworthy of holding office.

(BTW...compare him with Blanco, and get back to me on that one).

Well, other than being a flat out liar, he is a republican. That is enough for me.

Answer this question, Did Jindal lie or not?

Since you support a blasphemer and a pervert (Franken), why get all moral about lying? Not sure I understand your ethical framework here...

Furthermore...if you consider yourself to be "enlightened" and "open-minded," why would you out of hand dismiss someone based upon the letter following their name? Is that the mark of an intelligent voter?

Let me put this to rest before you blow a gasket. I support Franken in MN simply because he was the democrat running in the race. I have not read anything Franken said in the book I own that would back up the things you say, but hey, you could be right. I haven't read everything Franken wrote. In watching him on television, I have not seen the "pervert" side of him that you seem obsessed with.

I do know that thousands of people in MN voted for Franken, so evidently everyone doesn't agree with your assessment.

Furthermore...if you consider yourself to be "enlightened" and "open-minded," why would you out of hand dismiss someone based upon the letter following their name? Is that the mark of an intelligent voter?

I have found that he Republican Party to be a scourge on our society. The sooner it is gone, the better.

You must have missed the other thread where I called the Democrats tax cheats. I'm normally an equal opportunity slammer but the right doesn't need help in these parts. But you are right, I should give credit where due which is why I still have hope for Jindal. He is a diamond in the rough who will do well if he doesn't abandon the American people in order to carry the Republican banner.

I heard his speach. There was no lie told.

I guess you didn't hear the part where Jindal said he was present with the sheriff during Hurricane Katrina, which his own spokesperson admitted was a lie.

The key words in your statement are "I can't think..." That pretty much sums up your understanding of democratic voters.
