Am i being mean and judgmental to a brother in Christ by saying I can't stand his "preaching" ? I have to turn it off as quickly as I can whenever it comes on. Is God behind him or not?

I don't care for the man, his ministry or his books... He's more of a Psychological Guru than a preacher... He's just one among many... Brother Glen:)

Btw steaver it's Joel Osteen

When someone is teaching heresy, and another Gospel, hope that we would get offended!

I don't think I ever heard him preach from the scriptures. The times I listened to him in the past and all the snips I hear now all sound exactly the same. It's like he found a hundred different ways to say the same thing over and over. I hate to sound mean but the guy bores me to death. Yet, tens of thousands just love him.

Never thought of that. I remember him now, back when I was a child, the Hour of Power. Never was lead to salvation through him though. It took Billy Graham's preaching to do that.

Both of them preach power of positive thinking, God has a great plan to bless you in all health and prosper your monies, and meet all of your "needs?

I wouldn't have any problem with that message if the Gospel was also preach at the same time. Like he could open and end his broadcast with....

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:17

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jhn 3:18

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jhn 3:19

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Jhn 3:20

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Jhn 3:21

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Over my many years in the church, I've heard preacher after preacher, and I remember one who made this comment... I've read Norman Vincent Peale's The Power Of Positive Thinking and The Apostle Paul and after he read both, I found Peale appalling and Paul appealing... That preacher is know for his witticisms... Preaching over 60 years, quite a character... Brother Glen:)

Heaven forbid anyone had actual faith in God, they would sound 1000 times more positive then Joel.

I remember back in the day in So. Cal, people would go to the drive-in theatres to see and hear him preach on the big screen... Then he built his Crystal Cathedral... Oops I'm dating myself here... Oh well... Didn't care for Schuller either!... Brother Glen:)

My experience with Schuller was that he wrote his book about the new reformation in the church, the Gospel of self esteem, as we are basicall all good people, as our problem is that believe the lies of us being junky and sinners, as that is the Gospel of both schuller and olsten!

Osteen doesn't preach IMO, he is just a motivational speaker that uses God in false ways. Someone said he is the preacher that Timothy said would tickle the ears of end time seekers.

"I find Saint Paul appealing and Saint Peale appalling." [Remark made in 1952 by Adlai Stevenson2 (1900-1965)]
