John 20:21-23, . . . Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

Acts 1:2, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: . . .

Acts 1:8, . . . But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Do you see the "remitting and retaining" of sin as the disciples, or any believer for that matter, after witnessing and someone accepts the Lord as their Saviour, having the authority by Christ to tell the new covert their sins have been forgiven (remitted)?

On the other hand, the "retaining" of sin being the authority to tell them their sins have not been forgiven (retained), if they reject the Gospel?

Or how do you see that?

Hearing and believing versus not believing in Christ being preached.
