I've always loved John Piper. Now I better understand why. In his heart of hearts, John Piper, like John Calvin, agrees with unlimited atonement.

    John Calvin: Not a Calvinist

    Ecclesiastes 7:18
It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.

    1 Corinthians 8:2-3
Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.

John Piper couldn't have been any more clear that, in his heart of hearts, he believes in unlimited atonement, as did John Calvin:

As a five point Calvinist, I believe all that absolutely. My only qualification is, what does it mean to believe in Jesus? I am preaching on Sunday morning and I shall tell the congregation (as I do regularly) that everyone who repents and trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins will be saved. Bunyan, Whitefield, Spurgeon were all five point Calvinists (that's the only kind) and they preached that constantly.

Matthew 11:28. 'Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.' But read verses 25-27.
John 6:40. 'And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life and I will raise Him up at the last day.' But read verses 39 and 44.

You misunderstand Calvin, no real surprise there!

The Father did not intend all to get saved by the Cross of Christ!
