What else can one say?

Behar is an idiot. Just another liberal entertainer with a big mouth.

Never heard of Joy Behar. Anyway, I am sure Mitt's house is insured.

Certainly this is no worse than Limbauth's "I hope he fails." Come to think of it Rush's comment is worse in that it implied that he, Rich, hope the US failed.

I'll duck now.

Crabby, you need to duck because your comparison is just stupid. Rush was saying that he hoped Obama failed to get his policies made into reality. This person, whether they were joking or not, said they wanted a person's house to burn down. There's a huge difference. What does it matter if their house is insured? Would it be OK if I burned down your house, assuming it is insured?

That is the lame excuse Rush made later. He gave no qualifier when he made the statement ... he was saying he did not care how much it hurt America, he just wanted Obama to fail. Be honest, Rush didn't care about America.

I was not recommending that anyone's house be burned down. But if Mitt is the business man he says he is, then I am sure his house is insured.

It is stupid for people to make comments such as the on cited in the OP ... regardless of what they real intent.

He gave no qualifier? Really? You obviously haven't heard it or read the transcript. Here it is:

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2009/01/16/limbaugh_i_hope_obama_fails

How's this for a qualifier:

I'm not talking about search-and-destroy, but I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed.

or this?

Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work.

What if Sarah Palin (for instance) made such a remark of a liberal statesman like Harry Reid (for instance)?

Yes, the classic, "what if someone on the right said this about someone"...

I guess it means the left just isn't "paying their fair share" for gaffes.

Matt, not all conservative agree with you.

Bill Bennett disagreed with fellow conservative talking head Rush Limbaugh, who said that he wants President Obama "to fail." On CNN's "State of the Union," Bennett said, "The locution 'I want him to fail' is not what you say the first week the man's been inaugurated ... the rhetoric could be improved." Watch: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/26/bennett-limbaugh-wrong-to_n_160825.html

Of course, much of what Limbaugh says is simply attempts to be controversial in an attempt to keep his ratings up.

Why are you deflecting Crabby? Initially you said that he gave no qualifiers. Can you at least admit you were wrong and that he did qualify his statement?

At any rate it looks like "Limbawl" (I'm no fan) got his wish.

I don't think that it was the wish of Rush, but rather looking at the facts- it would be apparent as to what the outcome would be.

That would be like saying if "Norm" ( of Cheers ) was signed to play with the Celtics, put on the first string and he was guaranteed to play at least 35 minutes per game. If you were a fan and lived in Bean-town, you would probably say, "I hope Boston Fails! It would be apparent that the Celtics would not win the NBA Championship.

Just look at the previous policies of Obama. It was apparent.

Thanks CBT, you made my point!

We heard Rush's comment about his hope that Obama's tax and spend/wealth redistribution policies would fail all over the news for about 10 days.

Has anyone heard about Behar's comment wishing for Romney's house to burn down on ABC, NBC or CBS?

No, because it's not news, it's gossip. If some talk show host blurts out something stupid it isn't newsworthy. Sorry, just the way it is.

However, if Sarah Palin, a former VP nominee were to say something like that, yes, that would make the news.

IMO, It is news and not gossip when someone (a potential for POTUS) is wished harm (i.e. having their house burn down) by a public figure with a public listenership regardless of their position and stautus in life.

Joy invited Romney to come on her show and she was asked what she would ask him.

Thats when she made the infamous remark.

OK, lets take another show host - Rush Limbaugh - someone who is not a political office candidate; when he makes a gaffe or tasteless comment its crowed all over the liberal media for days.

Just pointing out an inconsistency.

And that's not to say conservatives are blameless.

She's a talk show host. She doesn't even rise to the level of celebrity. What she says isn't news.

Since Rush says something stupid and tasteless on a nearly daily basis, why haven't we heard the liberal media crowing about it? He pretty much lost all influence after the contraceptive flap a few months ago.
