Sean Hannity Tells African-American Caller That Police Won't Bother You If You Aren't "Part Of A Gang"

CALLER: You will never understand what it means to be black in America. You will never understand how we are policed and how you are policed. You'll never understand that, so we will never come to an agreement on that. All I'm asking you as a decent--

HANNITY: --But I can tell you one thing, and I can tell you a fact -- that if you don't do things that are wrong, if you're not part of a gang, you're not robbing, you're not stealing, you're not selling drugs, you're not using drugs, you're not violent, you're not involved in any trouble, guess what's going to happen? Nothing. Stay out of trouble.

CALLER: That's absolutely not true.

HANNITY: And I don't care what neighborhood you live in. If you stay out of trouble, obey the laws, pay your taxes, you are going to be fine.

CALLER: Absolutely, absurdly untrue.

HANNITY: Sorry!

Just absurd and the same thing that political conservatives parrot. This man and his pimping ways of keeping white people stirred up is leading to some dangerous ground.

I just don't get how some people expect others to sympathize with the danger of being a cop yet not sympathize with the danger of being Black.

Next time someone talks about the pressures of being a cop I should just call it a "cop out". smh

And the same goes for liberals

Case in point - I talked to dozens of liberals during the '08 campaign. I would ask them why they were voting for Obama. Standard answer - "Hope and Chage" When I asked them what hope and change did they want - only one person gave a decent answer.

Then what do you have to say to the numerous black people that "parrot" the same line? Those black people that have experienced exactly what Hannity (who I think is an idiot) is saying? They stay out of trouble and therefore aren't bothered by the police?

Are all those black people that experience that just Toms?

I asked all the black people I know why they were voting for Obama and their answer was "Because he's black and I want to help elect the first black president."

And was that answer, "Someone not named George W. Bush?" I think many people would have voted for Howdy-Doody rather than Bush.

Oh I agree with that, on both counts. I asked folks the same thing and told folks left and right that he still hadn't at the time said what that hope and change entailed.

robustheologian it's because white people traditionally view the police as being an extension of their privileged authority. From the days of slavery, the police have essentially been an extension of the white privileged in society. That's why they were so ubiquitous in the lynchings and the hangings and the dragging behind cars and all of the other atrocities that took place against Blacks. One of the reasons Whites got away with this stuff against Blacks is because the police were working with them to do these things.

If Blacks challenge the police's authority, it's like the authority of white privilege being challenged by some and the privileged don't like that.

I'd say they are anomalies. And if they haven't experienced it themselves, they know someone close to them or in their families who has.

Nothing wrong with that, I guess. We'd had 42 white Presidents prior and I'm sure a lot of folks voted for them because they looked like them. I would imagine a lot of white folks voted against Obama too because he is black.

Typical. Dismiss those that don't support your rantings as anomalies.

Is there anything wrong with whites that refused to vote for Obama because he is black?

You mean like it's typical of you and your brood to try and find one black person that has an experience from the majority of Blacks and then think that one person is the norm?

It sounds as silly when yall do it on here as it does when FOX News tries to find that "Good Black Person" who is a credit to his race who agrees with yall's POV.

That's pretty typical of the FOX News parrots.

I guess that's as good a reason as any. Just don't act so surprised that they would do with a viable black candidate the same as Whites have done with white candidates 42 previous times.
