Just Doing Their Job

I had the honor of knowing many members of our "Greatest Generation" including several combat veterans from WWII. They did not claim to be heroes, they would say they were just doing their job.

Fast forward to the 1990's. Picture yourself on the Dwight D. Eisenhower, watching Hornets being catapulted off the bow, and the planes turning toward the coast and harm's way. Later, they return, having completed their mission. They were just doing their job.

We do not know the names of those pilots, because it is not important who they were, just that they did their job capably and with valor.

By the way, several were the first ladies to fly combat missions.
