Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has signed a bill making his state the first in the nation to ban a controversial second-trimester abortion procedure that critics describe as dismembering a fetus.

The new law, which takes effect July 1, was drafted by the National Right to Life Committee. The group hailed the signing of the bill Tuesday and is aiming to pass such a law in several other states next.

"The Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act is the first of what we hope will be many state laws banning dismemberment abortions," group president Carol Tobias said in a statement. "This law has the power to transform the landscape of abortion policy in the United States."

Already, similar measures have been introduced in Missouri, Oklahoma and South Carolina.

Another piece of evidence disproving the lie told often that Republicans don't want to do anything about abortion.

I'm on my phone, and pressed for time, or I'd do my own research. But is it banning all second trimester abortions, or just the one procedure?

Yep, gruesome technique:

The procedure is used in about 8 to 9 percent of abortions nationwide and similar bans are being considered in Oklahoma, Missouri and South Carolina, it said. Nearly 90 percent of U.S. abortions take place in the first trimester.

So, of the 10% of the abortions, this must be a VERY common technique late term. If there are at least 1.2M abortions performed in a year, there are approximately 120k later ones, making there be at least 100k D&Es. Gross.

Not to take this threaqd into a rabbit trail, but I find it odd that a woman can have an abortion because the liberals say that the fetus isn't a 'life', but if that same woman is murdered, that murderer is tried on two counts of murder. How is it not 'life' if the mother chooses to abort the baby, but a life if the mother is murdered?

Is not this the quintessential example of hypocritical and double standard?

The common use of the word fetus is intended to dehumanize the unborn child. It should have no place in Christian conversations.

The fetus at any point in time, is a human life. I just wish the government would add the fetus killed at Ft. Hood in the terror attack, to the number of counts of murder against the terrorist.
