of the chaos that will ensue after the next major terrorist attacks on these United States.

A friend of ours has an entire family in New Orleans and Slidell, LA, whom they have been unable to contact and have no word as to their whereabouts or safety since the hurricane struck. And no way to reach them even if they went down there.

His comment was that the elected officials down there have known for years about this possible scenario and did little to prepare in the event of the eventuality. They were mainly interested in lining their own pockets and now, this.

Consider this: September 11th happened four years ago. We were unprepared even though Congress had heard about the possible scenario of a jet being flown into the Trade Towers - during hearings on terrorism, testified to by terrorism experts. Yet nothing was done to prevent it.

We all know a terrorism attack of major catastrophic proportions is going to happen on American soil one of these days. We know there are terrorists who live among us. Yet, consider the chaos that will ensue when it happens, even though we have been forewarned. What is happening in New Orleans is a glimpse of the chaos and disorganization that will happen after the next major terrorist attacks.

Stock up on bottled water and canned food now. Keep batteries in the house.

If the jihadists among us decide to go on the big one, going door to door and chopping off heads, the government will be powerless to curtail or stop them, let alone provide our families with water and food. If you don't think it can happen, just remember, the people in New Orleans thought they had made it past the storm after it passed and some on Bourbon Street were planning to party as usual.

The people in Noah's day thought he was an old coot.

The irony in all of this is the Governor of Louisiana has asked everyone to pray. At the other end of the spectrum, the Air Force has just announced a "no religion policy."

America is on the downward slope to destruction. And it is only going to get worse. I am starting to believe that God has removed His Protective Hand from America because of our national sins.

I don't think it's appropriate to hijack the current situation for the purpose of fostering opinions on unrelated topics. It belittles the current situation, and is disrespectful to those who are currently affected. I myself have friends that I can't reach. The least you folks could do is wait a few days before continuing discussions as usual. Sheesh.

Hard to chop off heads with a chest full o' buckshot.

Mark the day down, Br. Curtis. We agree on something!

As for the Air Force, their new policy makes sense. Here is today's editorial from the Denver Post on this very topic.

I'm inclined to agree with MP. The air force is not banning organized expressions of faith. It is implimenting a policy that organized expressions of faith be non-sectarian and not advance a specific religion. Sounds reasonable.

    Get a grip, people!

Now is not the time for philosophy nor political bantering. Now is the time for the following (a reduced and incomplete list, I know):

    </font>
    • getting everyone out of New Orleans</font>
    • finding all of the dead people and animals and getting the potentially contaminating corpses out</font>
    • draining the water out</font>
    • rebuilding</font>
    • and prayer integrated throughout all of the above</font>
Wait a few weeks or months and you can banter all you like.

    Peace-
    S.O.

When you willingly come to a "political" forum, it's hard to complain about the "political bantering."

I agree. Now is not the time for political arugments. However I do believe that LadyEagle has a very good point. We should not ignore the points she made. They may not be pleasant but the following are the points I think all Christians in America should, at least, be thinking about:

"I am starting to believe that God has removed His Protective Hand from America because of our national sins."

==The Bible certainly supports this thought. I would point people to passages on God's judgment and nature (Jer 12:4,11, Matt 24:7, etc)

"The irony in all of this is the Governor of Louisiana has asked everyone to pray. At the other end of the spectrum, the Air Force has just announced a "no religion policy."

==We live in a country that wants God out of the schools (etc) yet who do they turn to when trouble strikes? I think more people need to seriously consider the warning of Proverbs 1:20-33 and Isaiah 55:6 (etc).

"What is happening in New Orleans is a glimpse of the chaos and disorganization that will happen after the next major terrorist attacks"

==This is common sense. We are unprepared for these type of mass disasters.

"Stock up on bottled water and canned food now. Keep batteries in the house."

    ==Should go without saying.

    In Christ,
    Martin.

I don't think so. Even with all of our faults, we are still the most caring, compassionate, even Christian nation in world. I would think there would be lots of countries ahead of us on any "list" for judgment. Not that accept such "nation judgement" in the New Testament era after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

Also, I am not a fatalist since I don't think that another terrorist attack of the size of 9/11/01 is inevitable.

But, then again, I try not to live my life as a pessimist.
