Kind request of modern version users

When your folks and kids use NASBs or ESVs or whatever version you choose for your home or churches, remind them that those who use the KJV and NKJV are using GOOD Bibles too.

Otherwise the KJV/NKJV Bible kids go to church and get persecuted because others kids haven't been taught well.

Before you say, "You nuts." It recently happened to my kids.

It should never happen. Experience has shown it happens far, far more on the other side (and it's more than just being made fun of), but there's no excuse whatsoever.

Have you spoken to the kid's parents (the ones bullying your own kids) about this? A diplomatic and polite conversation might settle things. If not, you could always grab a good old hefty Thompson Chain Reference Bible and thump the kids over the head with it. Preferably NKJV.

Seriously though, I've never heard of anything like this before. I used to get bullied at school because I didn't wear the latest fashionable Nike trainers, or Levi jeans. I never would have thought such a thing would go on regarding Bible versions in a church. It gives a whole new meaning to the term "Bible bashing".

I toldja how years ago I cametabee anti-KJVO by the attempts of several KJVOs CUSSING and threatening my dad for reading to some teenagers from the NASV, an incident which prompted me to intensely study the KJVO doctrine & discover how false it is. It's only natural what what goes around comes around.
I agree that any such actions by EITHER side is NOT Christian behavior, and should NOT be tolerated nor condoned in any way.

RB, you seem to have solid theology. You will come around on this as well. I suggest you pick up a copy of James White's book the King James only controversy.

It was an eye opener for me.

For what it is worth, he is a reformed baptist as well.

I am so sorry that happened RB!!! There's NO excuse for that!!

I do agree about the James White book. It's excellent and I keep it right on my desk as a reference.

NASB, ESV, NIV, HCSB, KJV, NKJV... they are all still God's word. That someone was narrow-minded enough to trouble your kids about using a KJV/NKJV is a cause for concern to me. Promoting a single translation as perfect is one thing, but simply carrying or using said translation at church and getting grief over it is way outside Christian behavior.

I wouldn't want someone to make an issue of what translation someone is carrying but neither would I recommend the KJV or NKJV.

"Persecuted",RB? Really? What, a few negative remarks were made? Would that constitute persecution?! Tell the underground believers in China of your new meaning for the word.

How old are your children?

Hey, I myself have been seriously dissed for using the KJV in a Bible study my brother in law attended, and I didn't even criticize anyone else's Bible!

Again, I joined a Bible translation e-mail group and was immediately dissed by a member because I said I was translating from the TR.

Not only that, I've seen it happen right here on the BB--on both sides and often. So you that have said it's a rare event, sorry, but it happens a lot.

Okay, a new meaning for the word persecution : serious dissing. ;) Somehow I think that is considerably less than the biblical understanding of the word.

I agree. Persecution is a strong word. But JoJ is right. The insults are too many and not limited to one side.

You've made your point Rippon! Stop beating a dead horse.

FTR, I agree with you, but just because there may be no "PHYSICAL" "persecution" involved ----- to many persons the "mental/emotional" persecution can (note CAN!) be just as devastating, but be invisible because it's on the inside!!!!
