    Acts 26:
27 "King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian."

now we see Paul said I know that thou believest. Did Agrippa have saving faith given to hom as Paul said, or was he under conviction? The Agrippa said almost thou hast persuaded me to be a Christian? How close was he in receiving Christ and yet it appears he chose to say no to the Conviction brought on by the Holy Spirit. So was he that close? Or did God not give him the faith he needed?

Okay, I'll play along. Why was King Agrippa not fully persuaded?

The man called Agrippa here is King Herod Agrippa II, great grandson of King Herod. Agrippa was raised in the Imperial Court of Emperor Claudius and rose to power under Nero.

King Herod was an "Idumean" or Edomite, a people descended from Edom, a son of Esau, and thus not a Jew. However, a gentile could be considered a Jew if he could claim Jewish ancestry going back at least 3 generations (his own being the 4th).

Therefore, as his great, great grandfather, Alexander, married Alexandra, a Jewish women descended from the Hasmonean dynasty, and Herod, their son, married Mariamne, also descended from the Hasmonean line, and Herod's son Aristobulus married Berenice, Salome's daugher, who was Herod's younger sister and raised by her mother as a Jew, as was Berenice, and their son, Herod Agrippa I, married Cypros, also a Jew, so Herod Agrippa II was considered a Jew and was brought up with a full knowledge of the Old Testament and the Jewish Law and religious system of that day.

It was that which Paul was referring to when he said he knew Agrippa believed. Not that he was a saved man, but that he accepted the Jewish rituals of that time as being his religion.

Why was he not persuaded? Humanly speaking he was too fond of his sin, and his political power, to give it all up to follow Christ.

Be the more definitive answer is he was not numbered among the elect of God.

I did not know this about King Agrippa's lineage. Thanks and kudos.

I was asking this to Bro. mwc so that we can broaden the subject. Yes. I know Agrippa was almost persuaded. Was he later fully persuaded? I do not know. But I am wondering why, in Bro. mwc's view, why was not King Agrippa fully persuaded.

Thanks again for his marvelous post.

. He was under conviction and could have chosen to accept Christ but he instead made a concious deliberate choice to say no to Christ. He used his volition.

1 Corinthians 2:14 Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

The unbeliever can't understand Spiritual things because He doesn't have the Holy Spirit indwelling Him and Filling Him. A believer who has unconfessed sin cannot understand Spiritual things either tehy are foolishness to him too because with sin in his life he cannot discern spiritual things. When the Holy Spirit brings conviction and how does He do that, Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." didn't you hear and believe? Romans 8:7 the carnal mind that is the believer that has a carnal mind he is at enmity with God.

Look at Romans 8: and what Paul is saying,
5 "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness."
What is a believer with sin in his life following? Sin not the Spirit. Is the spirit dwelling in him you bet if he has received Christ. The body is dead because of sin but the believer in Christ is Spiritually alive has his body died, will it die one day someday? If Christ is in you the body is dead Paul said, but yet we live and every believer sins at some point that is why we must confess. Carnality is when we live by the flesh even for a little season, unless of course you believe that if you sin you must be saved again and that opens a bigger doctrinal problem.

Not one of us could understand spiritual things either until we answered the Conviction of the Holy Spirit and believed and were then regenerated.

I asking this question based on the way you seem to believe, before you were regenerated you understood spiritual things?

Or maybe it should be when were you saved=regenerated? And then when did you understand spiritual things?

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.

Both Correct and Spirit comes with conviction and one must respond. Do they understand it, no, so did you understand all spiritual things before you were regenerated or after and again when did regeneration occur in your life, were you born regenerated or di that come at some other point in your life and then when did you understand spiritual things?

So God gives man the ability to reject Him? Srsly?

Bzzzzzz! Wrong!! That was due to Adam.

Again, if only the unregenerate could do their part, then God could save them. Baaaaaah!!!
