I would like only those who are KJVO to post their personal assessment of what it means to be KJVO.

Non-KJVO's - please respect the intent of this thread. If you wish to begin another thread to relate your opinion of the KJVO position, you of course may do so.

KJVO's - Please refrain from attacks on non-KJVO's or the use of words such as "perversions." Simply state what you believe and why.

When I say that I'm KJB only, I mean that I ONLY use the King James Bible. It is the true, preserved, infallible Word of God! [IMG]

Well, it means that we(the dreaded KJVO's) believe that God preserved his word in the KJV as the FINAL AUTHORITY in ALL matters of faith and practice;simply put!

Now being known as the Mouth of the South, I will find it hard to "simply" state anything, haha! ;) But I'll try...

In my heart, I believe the KJBible is The Bible. I believe it came from the Truth that God preserved thru' the ages, as He promised He would. "Like begats Like".

I am satisfied with how the KJBible has taught me how to live and I have peace that I have a "straight-stick"~always showing me where something is crooked.

    Hi, brethren,

Well, by "KJVO" I mean that God has perfectly preserved his word, and has done so in the international language - English (I really don't know about other languages, but I certainly wouldn't put it past him!). Thus, we have a Bible that an ordinary Christian can pick up and read that is absolutely, without qualification, free from error! This Bible is the ordinary Authorised King James Version which is preserved today. Where any other version disagrees, it is wrong. Where anyone tries to correct it, he is wrong. That is what I believe.

    Your friend and brother,

    Bartholomew

When I take the position that the King James Version is the infallible word of God I take it from a position that no others have discussed. The ancestors leading up to the KJV were also the infallible written word of God... If the KJV and the ancestors leading up to it are not the infallible written word of God for the English speaking children of God then we are in a lot of trouble IMHO!

How many have heard of the ancestors leading up to the translation to the KJV?... The Originals first... followed by the Received Text(Greek)... The Waldensian Bible(Italic)... Erasmus(Received Text Restored)... Luther's Bible(From Received Text)... Wycliffite Bible 1384... Coverdale Bible 1535... Matthew's Bible 1537... The Great Bible 1539... The Geneva Bible 1560... Bishops' Bible 1568... Douai Old Testament 1609... The King James Version 1611. Why should I read another if it is not from this lineage?... I'm KJVO for a reason!... Brother Glen [IMG]

These are just some of my "rambling thoughts" & I feel "safe" to post them here in this thread...There are lots of things in life which change, but the Word of God, that Blessed Old Book, the KJBible, never changes.

Every new generation thinks it needs a new bible-the *idea* being that they can't understand the Bible of the past generation.

In my opinion, the only thing these "new bibles" do is lead men further & further away from God's Truths. But the Word of God is unchanging & Truth is the same in all generations.

Thank you for allowing me to say these things because as I grow older & because of what I see & hear, I find myself grieving more & more for the old ways.

As others have posted, I believe the King James Bible to be God's Word because I take Him at His Word (Psalms 12:6-7). I also have read enough material on all of the versions and have found the KJB to be the best translation out there. To me, it only makes since. I thank God that I believe in the King James Bible. I have a final authority to try the spirits and strengthen my Christian growth. It is powerful and sharper than any two edge sword. Thank God He keeps His Word.

I am with Bro. Glen. I am not one of those who believe that translation into other languages should be based solely on the KJV. Nor do I necessarily accept any inspiration of the dedicatory (as some do) and I am not of the opinion that the chapter and verse divisions are part of the preservation of the Scriptures. The text (TR) is the issue. KJVO for a reason!!

I believe the KJV is the word of God for the following reasons:
    1. God promised to preserve His words (Psalm 12:6-7).
    2. The KJV has no copyright. (The CUM PRIVILEGIO was not a financial copyright like we have today. Over eight-hundred million copies of the AV1611 have been printed without anyone paying royalties).
    3. The KJV translators believed they were handling the very words of God.
    4. The KJV translators were honest in regards to the italics in the KJV.
    5. The new translations compare themselves to the KJV.
    6. The KJV was not translated during the Laodicean church period.
    7. Ninety-five percent of all the manuscript evidence supports the text of the KJV.
8.The KJV exalts the Lord Jesus Christ.
    9. No one has ever been able to prove that there are errors or contradictions in the KJV (they sure try though). [IMG]
To be KJVO means to believe the KJV is the original autographs in English. At least for me. ;)

You sure are right about no errors and no contradictions and also there are many who try to prove that there are, but none have succeeded. I was just reading some post and was just thinking, the King James Bible seems to be the only Bible under attack. God's Word if very powerful and I'm sad to say that I believe the attack is getting worse. Let us watch and pray for our Lord's great return. Soon I hope. God Bless. [IMG]

Isn't it wonderful to have a reprieve of sorts, to write these things, without the fear of heavy artillery? Thank~you, Pastor Bob.

Yes, the attacks are getting worse because the devil has a plan & he's been operating it since the beginning. We must be faithful so much the more as we see the day approaching!

    "EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS!"

The only thing that I can do at this point is to restate what others have already said. Bro. Glen has done a good job of pointing out much of what I would have said. [IMG]

Granny you have said it correctly
I do believe that the KJV is easy to understand even though you might need to look up some words to get a clear meaning, after all is that not called Bible Study?

I stay out of all the discussions about it. It comes down to this....

I can't read another version. It bothers me when I try. I am of no doubt at all that God wants ME to use the KJV.

Brother David Cloud (wayoflife.org) said, "If King James Only defines one who believes that God has given an inerrant Scripture in Greek and Hebrew and that He has preserved that in the Hebrew Masoretic and Greek Received Text underlying the King James Bible and other Reformation Bibles and that we have an accurate translation of it in the English language in the Authorized Version, call me King James Only."

    Amen, I agree!

I would have to say that I'm just about back to that position...especially after hearing my pastor get up every week and correct the version our church uses. I truly wish that the moderator would have distinguished between KJVO-re-inspired, KJVO (King James believing it is the only preserved), and KJV Preferred (Those who believe that the KJV is the best and most accurate English Translation, but who still could or would use another translation). I think it's unfair to lump them all together.

     [IMG]
