The Apostle Paul wrote Titus, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; . . ." -- Titus 1:2. John wrote, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, . . ."
Romans 3:10, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: . . ." The obvious truth that each of us know we are sinners. We all know from our own lives we have done wrong one time or another.
Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; . . ." Everyone has come sort of God's glory, come short of going to God's Heaven.
Romans 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: . . ." Adam the first man sinned, bring sin upon the human race. And death became a result of sin. And all of us die for our own sin. [Deuteronomy 24:16; Ezekiel 18:20.]
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." With sin we have earned death, Death being the wage of our sin. And this death is eternal death being the opposite of eternal life. And eternal life is a gift, which is opposite a wage, which we earned and deserve.
There so happens to be no amount of good works anyone can do the satisfy, meet, and to recieve earned death. So eternal life needs to be a gift. But death still needs to be received in some way to make payment for the gift which is free to the recipiant. [Ezekiel 18:4.]
Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Christ one our behalf received our earned death. [Isaiah 53:6; Isaiah 53:10; Isaiah 53:12.]
The question needs to be asked, "How does one receive this gift freely?"
To be continued . . .
[Romans 10:9; Romans 10:13; Revelation 3:20.]
