    Genesis 4:23-24

"Adah and Zillah hear my voice; Wives of Lamech, listen to my speech! For I have killed a man for wounding me, even a young man for hurting me. If Cain shall be avenged seven fold, then Lamech Seventy-seven fold.

Why does Lamech mock God in this manner? So he killed a man, what makes him think he is so great as a result of it?

It sounds to me as if Lamech is saying that God protected Cain after he committed murder, how much more will He protect Lamech after killing someone in self defense.

Lamech's remark sounds sort of cocky to me. He was also the first polygamist.

    Sort of goes together.
