Church Leader Käßmann Resigns for Driving Drunk

the head of Germany’s Protestant churches, resigned on Wednesday after being caught driving drunk over the weekend.
The 14 members of the Evangelische Kirche Deutschland (EKD) council backed the bishop during a teleconference on Tuesday evening
The EKD was founded in 1945 as a multi-denominational federation of Lutheran, Reformed, and United Protestant church bodies.
“I’m shocked at myself,” Käßmann told Bild. “I am aware of how dangerous and irresponsible drunk driving is. I will, of course, confront the legal consequences.”
