I was wondering, out of everyone who has read the Left Behind series, what ypes or examples of false doctrine have you found in the series?

    Examples of false doctrine?
    Zero.
I would say they are pretty much on the money.
They do take liberty with the drama, but that is a writers perogative.

The doctrine of a secret rapture is an obvious one. The only rapture will be at the Second Coming when believers will greet Him in the air as He returns.

Actually I don't have much problem with them, I don't a lot for some of the drama. I disagree with the the two witnesses and who the biblical charcters they are being named as, but that seems trival.
Didn't the rapture in the books as being secret, everyone saw it. As has already been discussed, the bible says we are going up to meet Jesus in the sky, doesn't say He is coming on the earth, thats why we are 'caught up'. And it's no secert we're all gone.

The books are pretty much on. However, if you have seen the movie "The Omega Code" it is Post-Millenial.

Waste of time to read them, the rapture, 7 year tribulation, etc....
Based on a flawed theological method, dispensationalism

    It was fiction.

Not much point in looking for false doctrine in fiction.

Left Behind is a great series with theologically astute authors.

I haven't read the books but I saw the movies, Left Behind and Left Behind 2 and thoroughly enjoyed them. The second one more than the first.

But then I also enjoyed the movies, The Ten Commandments, The Greatest Story Ever Told, and The Robe.

I am grounded enough to know the difference between scripture and poetic license and, to me, it is a pleasure to watch these movies. We need more of them instead of the junk Hollywood usually produces.

As far as what might not be right on the money, I think maybe the implication that those who know the plan of salvation prior to the rapture but have chosen to reject it will have further opportunity to get saved. It seems to me that the wrath of God is going to be falling on a God rejecting world and that the Holy Spirit will no longer be dealing with those who have finally rejected God. JMHO

</font>[/QUOTE]The Bible only teaches one rapture, the one at the Second Coming where Jesus returns to set up the fullness of the Kingdom. The whole premise of "Left Behind" is that millions of believers are raptured, but the lost don't know for sure what has happened except that people have disappeared (hence a "secret" rapture).

When the Biblical rapture occurs, that's it. Tribulation will cease and Christ will judge the living and the dead.

Ahhh...so you take the post-trib stance?
I hold to the pre-trib postion, hence the confusion.
I feel the Christ will come back, call us to meet Him in the air, and then after the tribulation.. return for the 1000 year reign.

So....my beliefs do line up with the Left Behind books.

I guess I assumed everyone (Baptists) was pre-trib.
I suppose I need to get out more.

It's easy to think that. Those of us who aren't pre-trib don't have the luxury of writing books and articles that excitedly try to tie symbolic Biblical language to the latest news on CNN or the morning newspaper. [IMG]

    Thus, we don't get noticed.

I guess the important thing is that one day we will both sit by the crystal sea, and one of us will be able to say "See....I told ya" :D
