A Series of Unfortunate Events is a book i started reading a couple of months ago, before the movie came out. I must say I thouroughly enjoy them. There easy to read, yes, but there fun. The storyline just takes me in and i don't want to leave before i know what happens.

How many others have read the books and what do you think of them?

If you haven't read the books, why not?

If you haven't you should thought, I would reccomend them to anyone.

I read the fist one. I did not like it. I went to the movies to see the movie and I loved the movie. I do not know why I did not like the book. I want to watch the movie again!

During the summer is when I do most of my reading so I will try them again. It just depends on what other books I have to read.

I've read nine so far. I didn't think the first was so engaging, but I did pick up the second and was hooked. They are getting better as they go.

The movie was more optimistic than the books, I thought.

I think I read four of them? At first it was interesting for the unusual tone and theme, but then I started thinking they were dreary and repetitive, so I quit reading.

How do they improve down the line?

They improve by becoming a bit less repetitive and breaking the strict formula the first books follow. Within each book is about a dozen pages of really good material. I almost gave up after the fourth book too. I'm still not sure if reading them was a good use of time. They're short books but still seem extremely padded.

It's certainly not my favourite series, and the writing style, while quite unique at the beginning, lost its lustre for me after the first book. I think the movie improved on the books.

    But, tastes vary. [IMG]
