Events like today's passing of NBA great Kobe Bryant must have caught so of us off guard. That said, I am interested in the reactions that came across your mind upon first hearing the news.

I couldn't believe it at first, but I also was reminded just how fragile life can be. And that ALL of us never know how each day will roll out. This we need to never be far from our faith that should we take our last bteath, we are ALWAYS ready to meet God, and we left out loved ones in a good frame of mind.

So, what day you about the uncertainty of life and living for our calling home at the !are drop of a hat???

I was saddened, but I believed it. Life is fragile. I followed the guy on ESPN for years. Felt immediacy emotionally, it seems to be going away now.

I was challenged by 1 Timothy 2:1-3 and something our brother Reynolds said about the need to not just mourn celebrities,

First, 1 Timothy 2:1-3 NASB,
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in [a]authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

I took Kobe's death as a challenge to wake up and pray for, intercede for, petition for, and give thanksgiving for all people great and small, so that we all lead tranquil, quiet, godly, and dignified lives. I must intercede for the living everyday all over the earth, as we all must due to the command. To slack off is sin I now see.

I heard about a 10 second blurb that his helicopter crashed in the hills outside LA as I was driving. It reminds me that God is no respecter of human popularity. He brings both the rich and the poor before His throne at His bidding. Kobe now stands before God and God calls him to account. May God's grace have been outstretched in redemption toward Kobe. If not, we find grief that he is eternally separated from the Creator's mercy.

PRAYERFULLY REMEMBERING ALL THOSE WHO DIED IN THE KOBE BRYANT HELICOPTER ACCIDENT SUNDAY!
I want to take a moment to prayerfully reflect on the sudden, accidental death of retired NBA star Kobe Bryant. It is imperative as we pray and meditate on this tragedy, that we not forget that along with Kobe, eight other individuals passed from this life into eternity. Attached below are three press releases links concerning the crash and Kobe's death. I want to encourage ALL of you to take a few minutes and peruse these articles, and as you prayerfully reflect on this tragedy, that you not forget to include the families and loved ones of ALL nine individuals who tragically died when that helicopter crashed into the hillside in Calabasas California Sunday morning.
