And let the liberals on the board have their shots at Palin.

We have taken plenty of shots at Obama/Biden (although in my opinion, shots at Obama are easier to find and more fun to elaborate on).

Let the liberals have their feild day, because traditionally, they should have a 10 to 15 point lead after the convention, even in the years that they eventually lost the general election.

Wait for the polls to emerge after McCain's pick of Palin, and wait further for the polls after the RNC convention.

I told you all that McCain would pick a dark horse, and man, he picked a good one, so just let Ken and the others have their day, because it doesnt look like it will last long.

It's such sour grapes is amusing. :)

Excitement has come back into politics. We had 2 history making days in American politics and history back to back. It's a great day for America.

I love this country. :)

This is quite an amusing thread. On the one hand we have people rooting for a Tri Lateral candidate and on the other hand we have people rooting for a Tri Lateral candidate. Doh! Who's going to win?

I'll give y'all a hint. It won't be the American people. The faces may change but the policies never change.

You know one of the WEIRD things I see with Obama?

He's an "African/American" when it benefits him and when it don't We're reminded he's Half White? What's up with that?

And when will my Spell Check realize that "Obama" isn't Missed Spelled?

That's what I've always wondered. How is it that he is African American? Isn't he also white? But, at present it's politically expedient to be African American as opposed to being white.

I was thinking the exact same thing Roger... What a historic period we've been blessed to see...

No matter which party wins, we will have a fresh face in Washington. A virtual outsider coming to a place that is not known to welcome outsiders with open arms.

Is this really the best America has to offer. A soccer mom and a guy with great visions but no proven record? Suppose the Russians move missiles back to Cuba, I don't know, this is a truly historic moment but I wonder if the right people are involved for the right reasons...

Actually, I've been looking into this and the philosophy goes back to slavery days....

It is a known fact the White Masters would impregnate slave women. The off spring were considered black and so worked as slaves usually in the house since they had lighter skin. The philosophy was if you had any percent black you were black. The proctise was so common that it's questionable if there are any pure African Americans whose descendants came through slavery.

With all the mixed children being born today, looks like America out to rethink this philosophical view.

Well, I am one of the mulatto folks that you speak of. My greatgrandmother's father was was half black and the son of ggggrandmother Sarah. Her father owned 16 to 20 slaves and she had 2 children by slaves. One account says that both kids were by the same slave, but I find this hard to believe since the children were born several years apart. I cant imagine them letting a slave live that got their daughter pregnant, and in fact, the other story says that her father killed both of the slaves, one by hanging and the other was dead by the time he was drug out of the feild with a rope around his neck.

Anyway, my point is this, my relatives lived as "free mulatto inhabitants" of Alabama, but not as slaves. In the 1860 census, these 2 boys were listed as members of their grandfather's household as "free mulattos".

My father was born on the same farm that my family homesteaded back around 1820 and the property is still owned by family members today. I love to visit there when I travel nearby.

Also, I am listed as "caucasion" by the Army and on my birth certificate, so not everyone with a black heritage turned out to have black skin. I think most African-Americans are truely black and not as mixed as you think, although there are more and more mixed couples and children today than ever.

I am amazed at the false information that circulates and at the number of people that think they know how it was back then. Just ask someone like me whose family actually lived through it, not just heard stories about it.

I respect your knowledge of your history but must say that your story is not the normal or common story. The question was raised why is Obama classified as Black when he has a causation mother. My response was toward the philosophical view behind his label and in no way implied I have expertise in this area.

Well actually I wasn't asking why he was classified as a Black person. but WHY he only used his "African American" when it benefits him. But when it's not benefiting him he reminds people He's half white.

Small correction -- Palin calls herself a "hockey mom." She has a blue collar background. Soccer moms is a term usually used for women who are upper middle class.

Show us where he benefited by saying he is part white?
