Let's commit to a increased/more relevant Bible study/meditation/memorization/reading this coming up year. Every last one of us has room for improvement.

As part of our homeschool program my sons and I are memorizing the books of the Bible, and the verses of Jude.

That's in addition to our other studies.

I think memorization is important. You might want to include memorizing parts of 2 Peter as 2 Peter and Jude are very similar. You may already know that.

I think we need (and I am talking to me first and foremost) should increase our:
    • Bible study
    • Bible reading
    • Bible meditation
    • Bible memorization

Amen. I'm hoping and praying that I may be able to focus on studying God's Word this year. My lack of Bible reading is utterly appaling.

I must say I love the Psalms and I am pretty au fait with the last gospel read at Mass which is from St John 1-14.

I'm guilty too. I downloaded a Bible app for my Razr Maxx HD that has several customized reading schedules in it. Since I carry my phone almost everywhere, all the time, now I don't have any excuse.

The app is incredible. Dozens of translations available. Footnotes. It has a widget to put a daily verse on your home screen. It's got over 500,000 downloads and an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.0, the highest rating I've seen for any app for Android.

Memorizing the books of the Bible is a good, basic step that helps in Bible studies, church services, and devotional times.

They are memorizing the verses of Jude because we believe its a good thing to memorize Scripture. Jude is a short book (1 short chapter) so it's an easy way to build confidence while establishing the memorization habit.

I also have them reading through the book of Matthew at one chapter a day.

They also have study and memorization in AWANA. Plus Sunday school and they attend the main worship service for corporate worship. The older one is also in youth group.

Establishing that spending time reading, studying, memorizing, and hearing the Word is an excellent thing is important to me as a parent. All this also helps with establishing that the Bible is relevant and applicable to us today.
