Does a person get reborn by the water?

if yes, what if they never come to faith in Christ?

I just want to elaberate on Limbo in the teaching of the Catholic Church using the link billwald posted. It is just to emphasise a point I made earlier on another thread.

This theory, elaborated by theologians beginning in the Middle Ages, never entered into the dogmatic definitions of the Magisterium

I personally have concluded that the NT uses several words and phrases to mean the same thing. For example, it is not productive to ask can a person be born again if he is not water baptized or not spirit baptized or did not "invite Jesus" or failed to "accept Jesus as lord as well as savior."

Anyway, Baptists do not "believe in" sacraments. Water baptism is only an illustration of an event which could have occurred decades ago.
