Lets start a list of our favorite Map and Travel planning sites.

    There's www.mapquest.com .

Does anyone know of a site where you can pick certain Restaurant or Gas Station Chains? I used to know one like that, but I've forgotten what it was called.

Honestly, I like real hands on maps.

But if I have to use the internet, I use mapquest.

I've used Mapquest too, but if I'm going to do some extensive travelling, or going on a vacation, etc., like Salty, I'll lean heavily on the "Triple A."

I've also found out (the hard way) that in some cases Mapquest can be woefully out-of-date (e.g., try finding a street in a brand new subdivision) as well as being down-right WRONG (claiming there's a street some place when, in fact, there is none there [nor ever has been there])!!!

We've had a similar experience with Mapquest.
It told us to take the exit for XXX Street. It was supposed to say YYY Street. There ain't no exit for XXX Street!!:BangHead: At least not in Jacksonville, FL.

I will never go to a new city or country without checking into this web site where people post their experiences and opinions in travelblogs. There are some really good writers and good photographiers who have blogs on this site.

I like www.kayak.com and www.cheaptickets.com for travel sites.

I use Yahoo maps a lot for travel. I agree, it's hard to beat google earth for an overall view of the area.

We haven't need a map to go far, not out of state or anything. But when we have needed an online map, I have found them to not be correct. They once gave me a really long route, when I knew for sure a much shorter (shorter by half) exsisted. So I would use them only if I had too, otherwise I'd rather use a paper map.
