"When God intends great mercy for His people, the first thing He does is to set them a-praying." - Matthew Henry

I am looking for the original source of the above quote by Matthew Henry. I have heard and read it quoted quite a bit, but have never seen the original source given. I don't doubt it is by Henry, but would like to know from whence. Thanks.

I have never heard that quote ascribed to any other than Matthew Henry. There have been quotes similar in content and from the same age era.........

"When God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of His people." Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758.

    Cheers,

    Jim

The quotation is from Henry's commentary on the 12th Chapter of Zechariah:

    Thanks!

I was just going to say thanks, but the program won't let me post a reply with less than 10 characters. Progress! go figure.
