I cannot imagine an entire settlement of English men/women/children simply "assimilated" with natives and no trace found? That is beyond a stretch. I could envision a battle, men killed and women/children assimilated. But there would be evidence of this.

It was only about 2 years - if they did assimilated they must have went quite a distance!
