There are several Lutheran Church denominations. The Wisconsin Synod, the Missouri Synod, and maybe one or two more. I don't think these would take part in this sort of thing. But I think it's the future in most churches.
Don't lump all Lutherans together with the ELCA. In our area there are several confessional Lutheran Churches as well as Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches that have nothing to do with the ELCA which has obviously lost it's theological moorings. ELCA churches are withdrawing from that synod in droves. They can do so and keep their property as they are congregational in polity.
The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, are biblical sound churches.
The Confessional Lutheran Church (CLC), Laestidian Lutheran Church (LLC), the Lutheran Church of Confessional Fellowship (LCCF) and the Apostolic Lutheran Church of America (ALCA) are all more conservative than the WELS.
The ALCA and LLC are pietistic Lutheran churches that demand a strict adherence to an abstention of all alcoholic beverages. In doing that they they do not use wine for communion which is a traditonal practice of Lutheran churches.
wow, I wasn't aware of so many sects in the Lutheran Church.
