    Hey that front view makes me think it needs wheels and we could go skateboarding :smilewinkgrin:

    Got an ad for it this morning - price isn't as bad as I would have thought - walked through a new apple store at the mall and wow was my billfold feeling inferior!!!:smilewinkgrin:

    I was quite disappointed with it.
    It is another Cube and I was hoping for a Mac Mini type laptop.

    From what I'm hearing... no optical drive, no user-replaceable/swappable battery... way expensive...

    Skinny for sure, though.

    Certainly looks sharp- but it is an Apple product so we learn to expect this from them. I agree with Dale, I would like to see a Mac-mini type of laptop. Also I would like to see something between a Mini and a iMac.

    From what I understand though, it won't really be much if any more expensive to replace the battery.
    Apple will do it for 129 flat fee for battery and installation.

    That is about what most replacement batteries cost anyway.

    But for me, I would go with the MacBook.
    They were as low as $749 today at the Apple refurbished page this morning.

    Nice price. One can find some good deals on the refurbished page. I would like to get a mini refurb some day if it is ever cheaper than a new mini, which is already pretty well priced.

    Dale, do you think Apple will ever introduce something mid-range between the mini and the pro?

    I think with the uproar against Vista coupled with many software/hardware companies opting to not upgrade their wares for Vista and opting to try and sell new product that if apply put out a couple of decently priced machines they would take a real bite out of Bills billions.

    I've said on linux boards that if they would come out with a package that would get rid of the dos window type requirements they would also do the same right now.

    I personally think MS has hindered themselves greatly with this mess.

    I love my MacBook. Just ordered a 200g hard drive, 2g ram and a new superdrive for it. The superdrive went out 3 months after the warranty. A friend of mine at work is selling me his MacMini for 300.00. It has a 120g hard drive and 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo. I didn't think it was a bad price for being 1yr old. I plan to buy Airport Extreme Base Station for my house to run all of my printers and external hard drives wirelessly; not to mention iTunes through my stereo system!!

    300 is a great deal for that Mac Mini!

    I got mine for $550 last may refurbished from Apple and just upgraded the RAM to 2 GBs.


    I was just working on my dads MacBook this evening. It is the original 1.83 and I installed Leopard on it as well as a little more RAM so he has 1.5 GB now.


    I just realized that the iSight never worked quite right on it and the warrantee just ended so it is too late to get it fixed.

    The first Apple laptop I had was an iBook that I got on eBay and they actually replaced the motherboard even though it was used and out of warrantee.

    They usually do that if it is a "known issue"
    otherwise you are out of luck and will have to replace it yourself.

    Yeah I know. I took mine to the Apple store at Keystone and they said my optic drive went out and that it would be $450.00 for if they sent it away or $350.00 to do it in the store. I said, "So your tell me to fix it myself or get an external drive?". The Mac "genius" said, "yes". So I bought an External duel layer and order the superdrive.

    I changed out the optical drive in an iBook but not a MacBook. so far the only thing I have done is upgrade the RAM on a MacBook.

    By the way, I found a great place to take your laptop for repair if it is out of warantee.

    It is called DNS ad it in just off of SR 37 on 141st ST in Fishers.

    They are still a little expensive but nothing like Apple out of warantee.
