MAC users

You definitely want to talk to Dale-c, then. He has not only been converted, but he's been to Apple seminary and now preaches the gospel.

 

I guess I am not in that denomenation then. I never converted. My first "real" computer (there were TRS-80 Color computers in my past) was a MacClassic II.

I have walked the straight and narrow since then...now I have an iMac and an iBook.

My older brother greatly influenced my computer decisions. He had a NeXT for a while then switched to Apple claiming they were similar.

Yes, Tim, some liberal theologians who believe the first 11 chapters of Genesis are merely fable or myth have no problem at all claiming that an Apple brought sin in the world. But those of us who love God's word know that an Apple is not mentioned here, but rather in verses like this:

2 Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. (Proverbs 7:2, NKJV).

Thus, I love the Word of God and my Apple Computer!

Current Macs are based on the NeXt computers, actually, Steve Jobs started NeXT while he was away from Apple, then Apple bought next and hired Jobs again and Jobs basically turned Apple into next...Mac OS X is based on the NeXtStep OS.

Hey, I do (when I feel like it) on my Mac Book Pro in as a virtual machine.

 

I, too, am a Mac Addict, and a Mac Evangelist. Was really impresssed when I saw the first Macs being demo'd in the mid 80's. That simple little box was $3,000.00 back then.

I used to rent time on Macs at Kinko's before obtaining my very own used Mac at a seminary used equipment auction in 1996 - a Mac SE which had been upgraded to the full 8 megs of ram, had one of the floppie drives removed and a hard drive put in (50 mb!! Wow!). I paid a whopping $166 for what had been a $3,000 machine at one time. It did word-processing, was small enough to easily take back and forth between Oklahoma City and Dallas, Tex., and got me through seminary.

I currently have a Powerbook 1400 cs/166, (a gift from a friend), and a 10 year old G3/233mhz, running OS 9.2.2.

I've been using Macs for many years. I used to spend hours at the
University's computer lab on their Macs till I got my own Centris 650
Now I just upgraded from an old blue IMac to one of the 20 inch widescreen Imacs.
I am still not used to system 10 yet.

 

Don't worry, you will.
It took a little time for me to go from OS 9 to OS X but it was worth it.
Also, I can tell you are a long time Mac user since you called it "System 10"
It is officially "OS X" and they have all been "OS" rather that "system since 7.5 during the clone days.

Personally, I have really only been a mac user since my G3 iMac in 2002.
I do have an original Mac though, I got it from my grandparents, it still works

 

I, too bought a mac a few months ago...I don't consider my self a convert since I run xp on it. actually with bootcamp you can have the best(and worst) of both worlds.

 

I have boot camp on this mac book pro but I use Parallels a lot more, that way I don't have to reboot and I can run XP, 2K Vista or Linux.

My laptop is an HP but my desktop is an iMac. I'll take Mac over Windows any day of the week!

I started on a Wang in the 80s. We've come a long way, baby ... !

 

Parallels is not a freebie...

 

No but well worth it and you can copy the entire system from your old hardware PC, including the use of the OS so in some cases it could be less expensive.

Tat said, Boot Camp has it's place too and is free.
