Mac Word 2008 - help??

G'day folks. For those of you who have Mac Word 2008, I wondered if you can describe to me - in "Microsoft Word for Dummies" terms - how to rid tables in a Word doc following a copy/paste from a web site. The tables didn't happen with my older Word version. Any tips you can give are most appreciated!

Try selecting them with the cursor and then CUT (not delete).

Can you do EDIT>>>PASTE AS... ?

I didn't have luck with the cut (not delete) but
Edit --> Paste Special --> Unformated Text worked.

Next question ...

Is there a way I can tell this particular (saved) doc that I want to do this every time? Then I could use keyboard shortcuts and not have to pull down the menu every time. Sound possible??
