Malware Prevention and Removal

I've learned the hard way too, you HAVE to have a good anti-virus, & anti-spyware, & other anti tools in this day. If not it's like living somewhere with no police. You may be safe for a while, but eventually something gonna happen.
One valuable trick I've learned is become very familiar with what belongs on your computer. Espically in your startup. Use your Task Manager to learn what processes normaly run. Over time you'll notice if there are objects there that you know, or at least suspect don't belong. It's simple to search down a file for the process & check it's properties to see if it belongs. there Will be times you can do a file search for a particular process & the "file" doesn't exist. Not that it doesn't, but it's masked it's actual location. Thats when it's time to learn how to work in the registry. That scares some to death, but as long as you back it up first, & pay attention to what you're doing you can remove almost any malware by using the regedit in windows. That's a last resort if you're particular anti-whatever doesn't take care of the problem. Most times they do nowdays. But (pretty sure) any "program" legit or not, has keys & values in the registry. There are lots of sites, & even windows HELP teaches the basics of what the registry does & how to safely navigate through it.

 

Don't forget the importance of having a firewall as well.
