How awful...to spend that long in prison for something you didn't do. I wonder how he'll do now outside of prison.

He has been acclimated to the brutal survival rules of prison life. I pray that he will be able to cope on the outside. I hope his lawyers get him a bundle--that will help.

I am glad he is free, and I am praying for his success on the outside. I am sorry he did not get out before his mother died, though. I really appreciate the work that the Innocense Project undertakes. Kudos to them!

In the past six months Florida has awarded another innocent man 2 million dollars in compensation. He was in prison for 22 years for a rape. He was also falsely identified by the victim. It will be interesting to see how FL compensates this man. I am sure the awards will be pretty much equal, otherwise I am sure there will be an uproar.

I saw that tonight on the news. :( Yeah it is very sad, it's too bad his mom missed it.
But thank God for DNA testing!

What is truly sad is that he went to jail on the false witness of another who did commit the crime, and that person did not recant before. Yet, FL taxpayers will pay for this travesty of justice.

Proven false witnesses when found out need the same sentence that their victim received. Might stop some of that.

That would be the least I would do.

In looking up more information on him, it appears he had only been out of jail for a month before this...for a robbery.
It also appears he had some association with the people who committed the crime.
When you rob people and hang out with criminals, it probably greatly increases your chances of being found guilty of a crime, whether you did it or not.

I'm certainly not as shocked at this now, as I was when I only read the news that's out right now. They make it sound like a poor innocent man was wrongly accused by big bad meanies.

I'm wondering how many people were saved by being victimized because of his "unfair" imprisonment.

I hate it when I get sucked into feeling sorry for someone I shouldn't...

Gina, regardless of whether your information is true or not, the fact remains that this man has been WRONGLY locked up for 24 years for a crime he DID NOT commit.

Look at the bright side. Being in prison may be the only reason this criminal is alive.
