MAN'S AUTHORITY OVER A WOMAN

1Timothy 2.9-14

Paul very often dedicated a large portion of his Letters to women with recommendations and sometimes with straight command. In this chapter Paul turned to the Spiritual side of the Christian woman, advising, that instead of adoring themselves with beautiful dresses and expensive jewelry and fancy hair styles, they should reveal their godliness and Spirituality in Good Works in the Name of Christ.

~ 10. *Good Works: (Nehemiah 2.18) (Matthew 5.16) (2Thessalonians 2.17, 3.7-13) (1Timothy 2.9-10).

Paul also advice that women shall learn the Gospel in quiet submission. This most likely means learn the Gospel without any doubts, ignorance, unbelief, or resistance to the Word of GOD (11).

In the verse 11, Paul made a firm command and bold statement as he also did it previously, not allowing women teach the Gospel and have authority over a man. Concerning teaching, Paul meant in the church, but concerning having authority over a man, this Paul most likely applied to all circumstances, in church and at home.

In order to prove his words as reasonable and meaningful, Paul presented example in creation of Adam and Eve specifying the order of creation that Adam was created first and then Eve. So, in this sense Adam has first priority and authority as a first-born over second-born.

But this is not all, a man has authority over a woman also and for the reason of the curse of a woman by GOD, for her disobedience to GOD'S Command (Genesis 3.16).

~ Woman shall be subordinate to the authority of her husband: (Genesis 3.16) (Numbers 5.19-20) (1Corinthians 14.33-38) (Colossians 3.18) (1Timothy 2.11-14).

Paul also reminded that the Eve was deceived first by the serpent (servant of Satan) and eat the first forbidden fruit and fell into transgression of disobedience against GOD (Genesis 3.1-7.12-13).

Analyzing creation of a woman Eve, indeed, woman was created for Adam's sake when he unable not find between animals the one to whom he can relate (Genesis 2.20).

GOD noticed loneliness of Adam and decided created for him a helper, which can be also translated as a companion, a friend, one who will related to Adam in form and in spirit, literally another human being (Genesis 2.18).

Also, Adam was created from the "dust" of the Earth, means from the chemical and biological components of the Earth as an Image of GOD (intellectual Image, in intelligence and mind) (Genesis 1.26).

Eve on the other hand, was created from Adam's bone and flesh (Genesis 2.21-23) and she was created in the physical form of Adam and in his intelligence, so, she was created from Adam in the image of Adam. Because both of them have the same bone, flesh, and blood with its soul, they became one flesh (Genesis 2.24).

~ Genesis 2.21-24. Monogamy for a lifetime was and is GOD'S original divine plan. The Lord Jesus reemphasized the enduring principle in Matthew 19.3-12.

GOD breathed into corpse of Adam His Spirit of Life, to male Adam a living being (Genesis 2.7). Eve received her living spirit and came to life from Adam's blood which already has been inserted into Adam by GOD.

This order of birth also established a future process of birth not only for humans but for all living things. The only difference in this process is that only females became single providers and deliverers of birth, in order to allow Adam, remain in his first and only duty, to cultivate the earth (Genesis 2.8.15).

So, by all means Paul absolutely right when he presented men as authority over women then it comes to such things as relation to GOD, family, and everything else what GOD intended for man to do, including man's first responsibility to cultivate the earth (Genesis 2.8.15, 3.17-19).

Of course, some women disagree, complaining about it, some even disrespect Paul for such statements (I personally witnessed it), but the reality of truth always remains the same, and each of us, male and female, shall know our place before GOD, according to GOD'S will and His Command, of which Paul mentioned in verse 11.

Verse 15 is a little bit confusing and exactly what Paul meant by word "preserved." is left for debates (KSB). In other Bibles is written word "Saved" KJV, NRSV, NIV, ESV, Gideons, GNB, Russian.

I can only guess, but it seems that salvation of women may remotely relate to the curse of Eve: "To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you shall bring forth children, yet you desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.'" (Genesis 3.16).

Salvation never consists of a single thing; salvation is the combination of number of different Physical and Spiritual things. Because if we use word "saved" as is, this may does not mean that she will be saved from death, because Eve was condemned and cursed only by painful childbirth and not by actual death. So, if a woman has no children, it does not mean that she will die because of it.

All these verses relate to submission of women to men and to Gospel, the verse 15 can be read as, "But women shall be honor, or commend, or praise, or admire, or exalt, or glorify, though the bearing of children." This would indicate importance of women in their own fields of dominance against dominance of men in their own sphere of life and childbirth. It also will reveal primary duty and purpose of women intended by GOD (Genesis 1.28), just like GOD intended primary duty and purpose for a man to cultivate the earth, and so for women GOD intended to perform their duties as helpers and companions of men.

But this is not all yet, Paul continues this verse and writes, "if they (women) continue in faith and love, and sanctify with self-restrain ("modesty, humbleness" NRSV)."

This second part of the verse definitely relates to salvation, because without these Spiritual Attributes as Faith, Love, and Sanctity, salvation is impossible. If we take this to account, it may be understood in this way, that women who bearing children in Faith, Love, and Sanctity with self-restrain, in the Lord, as true and dedicated Christians, they are Saved.

This would mean that only Christian women of Faith in Christ will be Saved, not all women as it reads and suggested in the first part of the verse. Childbearing alone would not save women if they have no Faith and Love in Christ.
