Whetstone;
No one is denying that God commands to seek God. But who will seek God?
To say that God would comand man to do something man cannot do, makes God look ignorant of His own creation.
No one deny's God is in control, that isn't the question. The question is what does He control. What is His will for man.
Romans 9:21 says;
Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
God certainly has power over us and He could have made men unto dishonor, but did He?.
It's reads quite different when read in Jeremiah;
Jer 18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Jer 18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Jer 18:3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Jer 18:5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Jer 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
Jer 18:7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
Jer 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
Jer 18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
Jer 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
"What If God" Without a doubt Paul isn't saying that God does control every thought and deed of man though He certainly could if He so desired to. He is not saying that God did/does create some men for destruction either. The problem is there is no reason for anyone to assume such a thing of God. We have the will to choose our own destiny and at the same time it is not a work. It is faith and faith is not a work.
Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Those spoken of in Romans 4:5 could not exist, because it clearly says he did no work.
We are comanded to Love God;
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
God simply would not have comanded man to do something He could not do.
In The Light Of Christ;
