mark or number of the beast

Hi everyone;

I'm wondering how many of you that may be out there who remember when social security was first started.My father told me that when it was first introduced that a lot of Christians were worried that this was going to be the mark of the beast.
I have noticed that at least part of the prophecy has and is being fulfilled in that we are getting closer and closer to not being able to buy or sell with out it.
It's now used everyday as a identification number.
Where I live you cannot get a driver license with out presenting your ss.card and the other day while making out a living will I found that I can't have a living will without my SS number.Being reluctant to give it out because of credit fraud. I was informed I had no choice.I'm also reluctant to give or show my card to the motor vehicle because here in Colorado the state sold our information to some giant credit bureau .Now they want more.I would be most intrested in what ever you might like to say about this.

Ya know, that's an interesting thought. Just how much are we allowed to do without our SSN?

Can you get a credit card without one? How about a bank account?

I ask, because I honestly don't know.

Now, on the other side of that coin, Roman, I don't believe our SSN is used worldwide. If you can show that it's similar to numbers being issued to people in other countries, then I'd be more pre-disposed to agree with you. I've seen the arguments that some people use, that say when Revelation talks about the number being in our foreheads it means we've memorized the number; I tend to disagree with that, because the passage says it will be in our right hand or our forehead, and doesn't lend itself toward a translation of memorization.

Is our SSN being used to "prime" us towards an accounting number that will be used world-wide? I honestly can't answer that.

The key identifying feature of the mark of the beast will be the fact that to get it, you must worship the antichrist.
Until that is required I wouldn't worry to much about this or that new form of identification.

I remember quite a few years ago, an older gentleman at the time, told me that one day we will all be just a number. He wasn't a prophet, but he did know what he was talking about. I won't be here to see the mark of the beast. My prayer is that I can help others not to be here also. Thanks!

They write your number on your checks when you cash them in our grocery store. That really upsets me. Anyone can get that number.

"You will not even be able to buy groceries at the store without this number."

How well I remember some of the adults in my younger years saying that.

But no one is making you buy things with checks... That's a privilege that the retailer/grocer extends to you.

Don't let anyone get your SSN unless they have a *VERY* good reason to have it. Someone took a bunch of loans out in my name a few years ago and it took about 2 years to straighten everything out (including out-of-pocket expenses required to handle all the phone calls and registered letters, etc.).

I didn't even give out my SSN... someone stole some credit card offers out of my mailbox! They took out lines of credit, the credit card company listed my SSN on the account info they sent out, and then they went hog wild for about a year before the creditors finally tracked me down at my real address -- not the one that they had transferred all the fraudulent accounts to...

That was a nightmare.

I received my SS# when I got a "job" (paper boy) in 1955. In bold print it reads, "NOT TO BE USED FOR IDENTIFICATION"

Funny how when credit cards first came out a number of churches stated that this was the "mark of the beast", yet these days they are happy to accept it for payment of offerings or purchases!!!

In Ky they no longer put S.S.#'s on the drivers license, and it is this new driver's license # they ask for on checks at the store. I don't think S.S.#'s are the mark of the beast, too many other things would have to happen first, and they haven't. So I'm not worried about it.

Personally, I think the SSN will be incorporated as a part of the "Mark" one day. They are giving babies SSNs at birth, now, forms filled out before leaving the hospital.....

The funny thing I found out about the government is that there are some who are worshiping it right now and maybe don't realize it.In that I mean some welfare recipients who depend on government for just about everything actually believe that the Government should provide for there support, medical care and housing.They look at Government as a type of god who is there provider,with bottomless pockets.While we Christians depend and trust in God for the same reasons.I know my self on more than one occasion have asked for his blessings.

My hope is for a pretribulation rapture as well.I also believe in being prepared.I have been in a lot of discussions about the rapture and found three different views of this Pre, Mid, and Post.While as I said I hope for a Pretribulation rapture I have found that there is scripture for the other views as well.Suffice to say that I'm not 100% sure.I hope for it.

Maybe when you get your next ID or driver license you should for the reason of possible credit fraud ask that your SSN not be put on your ID Here in Colorado you can request it not be put on your driver license.

Recently I have found that it seems we are very close to a cashless system.I mean think about the advantages of a cashless system.We would no longer have to worry about bank robberies The transfer of monies by drug dealers especially if they use this Chip thing they now use for pets.Government would be able to enforce taxes much easier and we again would be further dependant upon government.We are so dependant now that this system could be a reality before we knew what happened.The other thing is the government would know exactly where you were at any given time because they could track you.Criminals would no longer be able to hide under a false name.

I was very interested in your links they offered a few things I hadn't thought of. thankyou.I see my doctor regularly and if I'm sent to some lab or other doctor they always want my SSN I don't give it to them anymore and believe it or not they are sometimes upset because it.I've had them tell me all sorts of stories of why they need it.The one I laugh at most is that they could get my records mixed up in an emergency.You see I checked out the nat'l white pages at the NBC web site and found that my name is fairly rare in this country since my name was the only that came up with a number.

I just registered for school last week and they already had my SS#.

That was a little disturbing.

Other than credit card fraud, I don't see a problem with it.

Generally, the same people who believe it's the "mark of the beast" are the "pope is the anti-Christ", "trilateral commission", "black helicopter" crowd so I wouldn't lose much sleep over what they say.

I Believe that all of the above is preparing the world for the reign of the anti-christ. I really would not worry about it unless you are not saved and then I would worry about it big time.

they are already putting computer chips in cars and animals to track them. Soon it will be chips in babies so that if they are kidnapped they can be found. Then chips in adults so that they do not have to carry cash and can't be robbed. Then no chip no groceries. etc.

Think of this, Satan does not know when Christ is coming back so he has to be ready with an antichrist all the time. Maybe that is why throughout history there have been some who would fit the shoe of the Anti-Christ.

This is a very good thread and it does make you wonder!?! As saved people we know that when the time comes we are going to be persecuted. What do we do about it? People are out there without Christ, they are turning to the Government for help. It is our job to be reaching these people, helping them to Lord, showing them the right way, helping them make it on their own, and God has always said we are to feed the poor. Why do you think the government(satan)has gained so much control? It is because God's people have quit doing their job. We should quit talking about it and do something about it, don't you think?

I do, however, believe in the black helicopters. They are real. Black Hawk Down, remember?

The Trilateral Commission is also real. Perhaps you would like to know more?
