Would any of you Pastors marry a couple that had no desire to have kids?

Yes. Procreation is the not sole reason to marry.

A few of the couples I have married do not plan on having kids. I think it is increasingly common for people in their twenties and thirties. It's something I encourage them to talk about beforehand, but - as Thomas has rightly said - procreation is not the sole purpose of marriage.

I'll give Thomas a few minutes to rethink his position now. :D

Yes. If that's the worst thing they're guilty of, be glad

I have used some material for marriage counseling from Walter Trobrush's book "I Married You" to teach on this subject. He makes a good point which concurs with the preceding posts. God said, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh." There is leaving, cleaving and weaving, and then a period. He makes the point that childen are not mentioned in this complete sentence. While children are the usual and normal result of marriage, some cannot have children and others may choose not to have them (my brother and his wife have extensive allergies and chose not to have children...they adopted).

Who knows, maybe they will even change their minds after seeing what they are missing....diapers, sickness, college costs, etc....maybe not! :D :D
