So on the subject of Masks this is copied this from an OSHA certified person.

“I am OSHA 10&30 certified. I know some of you are too. I don’t really know WHY OSHA hasn’t come forward and stopped the nonsense BUT,
I wanna cover 3 things
• N95 masks and masks with exhale ports
• surgical masks
• filter or cloth masks

Okay so upon further inspection OSHA says some masks are okay and not okay in certain situations.
If you’re working with fumes and aerosol chemicals and you give your employees the wrong masks and they get sick you can be sued.

• N95 masks: are designed for CONTAMINATED environments. That means when you exhale through N95 the design is that you are exhaling into contamination. The exhale from N95 masks are vented to breath straight out without filtration. They don’t filter the air on the way out. They don’t need to.
Conclusion: if you’re in Stewart’s and the guy with Covid has N95 mask his covid breath is unfiltered being exhaled into Stewart’s (because it was designed for already contaminated environments, it’s not filtering your air on the way out)

• Surgical Mask: these masks were designed and approved for STERILE environments. The amount of particles and contaminants in the outside and indoor environments where people are CLOGG these masks very Very quickly. The moisture from your breath combined with the clogged mask with render it “useless” IF you come in contact with Covid and your mask traps it You become a walking virus dispenser. Everytime you put your mask on you are breathing the germs from EVERYWHERE you went. They should be changed or thrown out every “20-30 minutes in a non sterile environment”

Cloth masks: today three people pointed to their masks as the walked by me entering Lowe’s. They said “ya gotta wear your mask BRO” I said very clearly “those masks don’t work bro, in fact they MAKE you sicker” the “pshh’d” me.

By now hopefully you all know CLOTH masks do not filter anything. You mean the American flag one my aunt made? Yes. The one with sunflowers that looks so cute? Yes. The bandanna, the cut up t-shirt, the scarf ALL of them offer NO FILTERING whatsoever. As you exhale you are ridding your lungs of contaminants and carbon dioxide. Cloth masks trap this carbon dioxide the best. It actually risks health. The moisture caught in these masks can become mildew ridden over night. Dry coughing, enhanced allergies, sore throat are all symptoms of a micro-mold in your mask.

Ultimate Answer: N95 blows the virus into the air from a contaminated person.

The surgical mask is not designed for the outside world and will not filter the virus upon inhaling through it. It’s filtration works on the exhale. (Like a vacuum bag it only works one way)

Cloth masks are WORSE than none.

The CDC wants us to keep wearing masks. The masks don’t work.

*Occupational Safety & Health Administration sited.

They regulate and educate asbestos workers, surgical rooms, you name it.
If your mask gives you security wear it, just know it is a false sense of security.
If stores stopped enforcing it no one would continue this nonsense.
==============================
If work requires you to wear a mask, OSHA requires that your employer verifies you are receiving the minimum of 19.5% oxygen level by law! Are your oxygen levels being monitored while at work? Are you experiencing dizziness and headaches? This is a written law NOT a recommendation! I guarantee if employees started citing law and demanding their employers follow the law then the masks would go away!”
I copied this post from a friend. This is so true. The masks absolutely do nothing to protect.

I wear a mask on my weekly trip to Walmart. Once it dwindles down to the vast majority not wearing masks again in Walmart, then I won’t.

Last I heard, COVID is spread by saliva droplets coming out of your mouth, not so much aerosolized breath. I know even cloth masks stop spittle droplets.

You are right. Its a bunch of crap. I am certified to wear a n-95 and p-100. I wear them for my protection, not the protection of others. I dont wear them much.

Freedom has its costs.
No mask, no entrance into my medical office or many other places of business.

Masks of any type reduce the potential for transmission of the virus. Masks tell others that you care.

Not wearing a mask communicates a number of different things, freedom is far down on that list.

The best way to avoid illness is to reduce exposure.
I can’t be sure if you are simply testing God or just ignorant of the potential risks.

Lol. I have contracts with kaiser, Kapiolani and Queens Hospitals on Oahu and have been working at them all since April. They’re all empty and none have CV19 patients.

I agree, its not that I wear a mask or don't... If you go to some places that require a mask, you will refuse entry unless you have one... So I wear a mask until I'm told not to and until they give the all clear, I will... I wear latex gloves too... God gave me common sense and I going to use what God gave me... I'm not one to roll the dice... Brother Glen:)

Some brethren on here, must think they are M.C. Hammer... You can't touch this!

I wear a surgical mask if I'm going to be indoors at a public place for more than a minute or two. (Walmart, Home Depot, grocery store.) I wear them mostly to avoid dirty looks from others. I know wearing a surgical mask offers me little protection against Covid. It does set others at ease, though, so I wear it.

If I'm doing a quick in and out--post office drop off, gas station, picking up food to go--I don't bother. I never wear a mask when I'm outside.

Question: I wear the surgical mask for 15 minutes inside a store. I get in my truck, remove the mask, place it in my console. It sits in my console in my locked truck in my driveway for a day or two, going through direct sunlight heat cycles of over 120 degrees (interior temp.) Next time I go to the store I wear the same mask. My wife thinks it's wrong but I don't see how Covid virus could survive the sun/heat/time between wearings. Who's right?

Well then if you don’t wear a mask there you are not only are you putting yourself and others at risk, you are not respecting the rules put in place to protect those you have a contract with.

A modelling framework to assess the likely effectiveness of facemasks in combination with ‘lock-down’ in managing the COVID-19 pandemic

Recieved April 30, 2020

“Under certain conditions, when lock-down periods are implemented in combination with 100% face mask use, there is vastly less disease spread, secondary and tertiary waves are flattened, and the epidemic is brought under control. The effect occurs even when it is assumed that face masks are only 50% effective at capturing exhaled virus inocculum with an equal or lower efficiency on inhalation.”

I am way too much of an introvert in public to want to draw attention to myself.
I never really have cared much what people think about me. By the time I graduated High School, I had completely quit caring. My wife gets mad at me because I wear overalls to eat out if thats what I have on when she decides to go out.

The Lancet found masks reduce transmission substanially:

The Lancet: Most comprehensive study to date provides evidence on optimal physical distancing, face masks, and eye protection to prevent spread of COVID-19

Evidence from 10 studies (across all three viruses, including 2,647 participants) also found similar benefits for face masks in general (risk of infection or transmission when wearing a mask was 3% vs 17% when not wearing a mask). Evidence in the study was looking mainly at mask use within households and among contacts of cases, and was also based on evidence of low certainty [1].

Basically masks reduced transmission odds from 1 out of 4 to 1 out of 33. Sounds pretty good to me.
