If Christ stated He would build His church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it...how can the church be subject to dismantling at the hands of the antichrist?

or HOW can there be the false prophet set up over Aposty Church IF gates of hell will not prevail against it?

or maybe its due to His true Church/Body of Christ already been removed and "fake " Christianity still around at that time?

What is going to be graet in all of these is that we who disagree on Calvinism/Arminianism, Gifts ceasing/operating, KJVO or not etc

Will have all eternity to continue the debates!

just kidding, as at that time, jesus will show us we ALL "were seeing through a glass dimly!"

The key is prevail. Evil will not prevail against the church. In order for it to suceed it will need to reign forever. Christ will reign forever not evil.

Where does it say that the Anti-Christ dismantles the church? For purposes of discussion, let's assume that believers will be on earth during the tribulation.

No before we get too far in we need to define what is meant by antichrist, since the two beast of Revelation don't carry that title and that is one of the first things that will be ask show me where antichrist is mentioned in scripture.

The beast out of the sea

The False Prophet (False Messiah) out of the earth
I see antichrist as a false messiah so I go with # 2 and he will not dimantle the church he will try to lead all Israel and too all people astray.

Not to muddy the waters here too much, but which person would be Apostle pauls "man Of Sin?" who exaults himself off as being "God?"

I think we should go back to the basics and see if we share a common understanding of the passage. I suspect not.

The idea is Christ will build His church upon the foundation of Peter. Now in other passages using the metaphor of a foundation, we see that Christ Himself is the corner stone, and the prophets and apostles are the foundation.

Next we have the metaphor of the gates of Hades not able to overcome the church.
The idea here is that being condemned to Hades does not prevent the power that "builds the church on the foundation" from removing people from the realm of darkness and transferring them into the kingdom of His Son.

So the passage has nothing to do with end times speculation, it is addressing the age of the church, which is the here and now.
