HOW DOES this apply to the real world?

Pensions, for example.

Person works for the Seattle Police Department for 30 years and retires and gets a 60% pension, 2%/year. He then works as a city building inspector for 20 years and gets a 2nd city pension. Is this "fair?"

Say an 18 year old joins Air Force ROTC, retires after 30 years in the AF, and then works for Boeing for 20 years. A hippy gets a job with Boeing at age 58 and works 5 years til age 62. When they both retire should they get the same pension?


9And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

HOW DOES this apply to the real world?

This parable, while involving salaries, isn't about monetary compensation.

It's about salvation. And how works cannot "boost" ones salvation. You are either saved or you aren't. No one is more saved than anyone else no matter their background.

And the point is, one can be saved at the age of 8 and live a full life for Christ or one can be saved on death row after a life of dispensing misery to others and both are saved to the uttermost.

That doesn't mean the one can put Christ on the back burner of life and "deal with Him later". That person, more than likely, will never consider Christ at all.
